Why do men like sending dick pics?

I was talking to a guy on snapchat. He seemed really sweet and cool then started trying to get a bit sexual. I wasn't really into the sexual talk cause I was enjoying just talking about random stuff. Then he sends me a dick pic out of no where! Why? This has happened before... like what is a picture of a weird looking dick supposed to do for me? I blocked him though I just wish he hadn't of ruined it with that.
