Why do people feel ashamed of being a virgin?

Don't be ashamed. As men get older, if you haven't had sex yet, women (not all) will think that there is something wrong with you, unless you have religious obligations (saving yourself for marriage).

Since you are 21, you still have plenty of time to have sex before it seems "creepy" that you are a virgin.

It's more of a double standard. Virgin women are viewed as a good thing while virgin men are considered creepy.

Just get out there, meet women, be yourself and have fun. You'll have sex eventually.

Because I think once a person hit a certain age they are expected to lose it. It's really odd being 25 plus and still being a virgin by society's standards so virgins tend to feel ashamed.

I'm a Virgin, and I feel neutral about it. Men might feel shame since not every woman likes non experienced guys, dunno. In my friend circle, sex is something my friends openly talks about, and it is in a way a "cool" thing to do. They get shamed for things like not having kissed a guy and stuff like that. It's kinda an honor badge being experienced. I usually just keep on the sideline, and do my own thing, but I can see it bothers my friends 😁 Maybe that helps to put things in perspective, dont know?

I'm a virgin and I'm kinda ashamed but not because I've never had sex but the reasons behind it. I have difficultly with people touching me because I used to self-harming and I associated having sex as someone seeing me and seeing them. Obviously it's not the same for everyone.

I'm virgin, I've never been ashamed. I guess some people feel bad about it because of pressure, which is very sad because who the hell has the authority to tell you when is a 'good' and a 'bad' age to lose your virginity.. doest make sense to me.

Its because virginity is the defining aspect of weather one is considered a child or an adult on a social subconscious level. one feels that they are still a child or immature when virgin and feels the need to have sex to enter true adulthood or maturity.
