Why do people have such stupid assumptions about men?

I heard some people say if a guy gets a boner he must want to have sex with a woman when it's a natural reaction and guys get boners all the time.

Another is men can't get raped when I seen men get sexually assaulted before and forced to do things sexually.

Why isn't this more in the spotlight?

  • First, because people don't value men as much as they do women. This is easily enough demonstrated by watching media coverage of a disaster. The women and children are "women and children"; the men are "miners" or "workers" or whatever the task that had them in the place where the bad thing happened when it happened. Their only acknowledged value is in what they do, not what they are. Want to hack off a part of your baby's genitals, leaving it with reduced capacity for sexual pleasure for the rest of its life? Then you're a monster, you- oh, wait, your baby is a boy? That changes things! Want to take a citizen and force them into fighting an immoral war? That's slavery, bub, and- oh, wait, they're a man? That's okay, then.

Secondly, because decades of Feminist indoctrination have amplified that tendency, convincing everyone that "woman" and "victim" are one and the same. Anything painting men as NOT being "oppressors" must be minimized, if not stopped already. Look at Erin Pizzey, a hero by any logical definition. She set up the world's first battered women's shelter, in the UK. She helped a LOT of people, and got a lot of support from her fellow Feminists. But having been a victim of physical abuse herself, Erin knew, and was not shy about saying, that many of these women were NOT, in fact, perfect angels, and had mental or social problems that needed to be addressed before they'd be able to live normal lives again. Worse, she said that she also wanted to open shelters to help abused men- those needing it might be fewer in number, but they existed, and no one else was stepping up.

THAT, to the Feminist movement, was unforgivable. The death threats started coming in, and then the actual attacks- she was eventually driven out of the UK. She eventually went back, because she's a badass, and I think still lives there now (and is still active in helping victims of domestic violence, because like I said, badass), but needless to say, is no longer a Feminist.

  • A lot of different factors, men's issues aren't talked much about for several reasons.

1: we don't know how common it is, in part due to lack of self reporting.

2: feminists tend to assert women come first, and anything bad happening to men is low priority, or simply doesn't exist.

3: men's rights activists overstate or manipulate the severity and truth of the matter, making it harder to take men seriously.

4: men who speak up are bullied by both men and women, keeping it hush.

  • No they don't have to have sex with a woman to thinking about her but you have to realize too that most men can control that boner and make it happen when they want to and when they don't want to

And for the second part of your question I guess this happens to men but you should also put in that same paragraph
If you wanted it to be spotlighted.
The odds of somebody dying when that happens there's going to be a very good chance..
Because I'm not going to ever be raped.
And I'm going to kill the person that tries to do it or I'm going to die protecting myself those are the only two options
And the odds are it's going to be the first one

  • No matter how many misconceptions women have about guys, I doubt they'll ever be as naive about us as we are about them. But I can certainly relate to your frustration.

  • if the term "toxic masculinity" ever existed, this would be the most appropriate to use because it implies men can not be victims, only perpetrators/oppressors

  • Because society doesn't actually care about us.

  • They are stupid but I have no answer.
Boners can come from even mild visual arousal or even a perfume scent that reminds you of a good time. TABU by Dana starts my juices flowing from a high school memory.
Morning Wood can some simply from needing to pee.

  • I feel like women’s issues are more talked about and more awareness is spread regarding those issues. Which is great, but I do feel like there are certain issues men have too that don’t get any light shed on them 😕

  • Because we live in a gynocentric society.

Are you actually a woman or are you a guy with a pink account..

  • There was a movie back in the `70's about a guy that got raped. Some woman was thumbing a ride because her car supposedly broke down and this guy offered her a ride. After a moment, she pulled out a gun and forced him to turn off into the woods where she made him strip and fuck her. When he told the police, of course, they wouldn't believe him!

  • There is an active campaign against this thought process. It really comes down to certain groups that want it to be a gendered issue for funding and sympathy.

  • Yes, I get boners way too easily. I went to the beach the other day and I got an erection when I saw a hot woman. I couldn't help it but some girls noticed it.

  • They always have.

  • They think it can't happen to a man

  • toxic masculinity and patriarchy hurt men as well as women

  • The people who have them are screwed up in the head.

  • lack of knowledge.

  • Because society doesn't care about men's issues as much as it does about women's.
