Yeah, I don't know either... I had two guys try to lie to me about their age, one I worked with that said he was in his 30's, to about to be 30, to found out he turned 27 on the same day I turned 44..
And recently a guy hitting on me when I was at the casino, and told dude he was way too young for me, (he was probably in his 20's) tried lying about being in his thirties, so I was giving him shit asking to see ID🤣 Of course he made some bogus excuse why he didn't have one which he wouldn't of gotten into casino without showing ID, so I was just "boy, bye"🤣🤣...
Sometimes people think I'm lying about turning 50 this year because they "say" I look younger, but if I was going to lie about my age wouldn't I make myself younger, not older...
But I have heard some girls say they'll tell a guy they're 16, if they think he's hitting on her, to make it like she's too young for them and to make it like it would be inappropriate to hit on her, when they could just nicely say they're not interested🤷🏼♀️

Online i have no reason to lie and it irks me if someone does because then i’ve already lost trust in them. I hate the excuse “i hit the wrong year.” Like dude you hit 5/10/20 years off? Hmm ok. Now in person, I only lie about my age if its clearly an older man, old enough to be my dad or granddad trying to hit on me. I lie and say im 16/17. Sad part is, they still be like “Well get at me when you’re 18.” OR “Aint nobody gotta know.” OR “How old is yo momma? Is she single?”. Lmao i can smell the desperation

That's a good question. I have no idea. I guess maybe she figured you'd be interested in more than a car wash, so she figured by claiming to be underage she'd be off the hook quick and painless.
I feel like it's that phobia of getting old or something. Either that or just trying to use it as a way to appease to whomever they're talking to to either seem more older or younger than what they actually are.
But it's just not a sensible nor appropriate thing to do if you're dating.
Some people are embarrassed by their age. Some say they're older or younger than they actually are because they don't want to miss out on some privileges or opportunities. For example, a woman who lies and says she's in her late 30's but is actually 40 because the man she's with doesn't want to date women in their 40's.
Cause they feel like lying for whatever reason. They think they are going to make it better if theu be someone else instead of being their true self.
