So, some women I know were just discussing this a couple of weeks ago. And, yes, depending on the size of a girl's butt, and thighs, and how her overall body shape is, it's very possible for her butt (or butt and thighs) to stick out so much farther from her body than her vagina that a guy with a 5" dick wouldn't be able to penetrate her - unless perhaps she was pulling herself open, but that's usually not a sustainable position.
This could be possible even if the woman in question had a thin waist - if her butt and/or thighs were really big, then they could block her holes enough that you'd need to be pretty long to reach them, much less penetrate them.
Not many girls in their late teens/20s have butts or thighs this big, but people tend to get heavier as they get older, and many women in their 30s have this problem with smaller guys. Or, at least, that's what these women were talking about, and it makes perfect sense.

From what I heard, this may only be half true. While I have heard stories (true or made up, perhaps a mix of both, I don't know) about men of average size or smaller having trouble penetrating big butted women from behind, I've heard other stories about men of average size or smaller successfully doing it without any problems. If a man (regardless of his size) has trouble penetrating a thicker woman from behind, I think it might be because one or both of them isn't positioned right. In doggystyle, the woman has to arch her back (often times resting on her elbows with her legs spread out too) so that her booty is lifted up, the cheeks are spread apart, and her vagina is more open and accessible. Similarly, in prone position, the woman has to have her hips raised (not necessarily planking, but in a way that her booty is arched) so that the man can get in. I really hope this is true.
