Why do they make dildos so large and solid? ?

So I occasionally go to the sex store and buy myself some toys... I've boughten dildos that are way to thick and solid... they don't feel good at all... thing is most of the toys are overly large and solid feeling... I recently bought a thinner very soft ish dildo and it was pretty close to the real thing... it was much more pleasurable... it is my favourite one to date... it's thinner and has a more fleshy feeling to it... why the fuck do they make them so solid and thick... it's so painful and unrealistic feeling?
