  I can't do it again, it hurt too much the first time. You don't know the toll it takes on a person when they lose their partner after 16 years together. When that person was everything to you, but betrayed you. When you have kids together and it doesn't matter to them. It's too much. Now I want a relationships that I can walk away from easily if she's shady. I don't want the rings and vows anymore because people don't honour them.

  I believe that I did meet a few women that were really special to me. There was things I loved about each of them, but ultimately marriage is a man made idea based on the premise that people can be perfect and committed forever. Unfortunately people are imperfect and they can change throughout the course of a marriage. Relationships don't typically last forever, especially these days. Marriage is a fun experience that I wouldn't take back and having a child is the best thing I ever did. I don't want to get married again though. It's good and bad. As far as meeting "The one" I honestly think it's more romantic to not get married in my situation. I like the idea of not being forced or obligated to stay together by marriage, but rather waking up each morning and choosing to be together. A situation where we're both free to leave, but we choose to stay. I We choose each other over and over. That's true love in my opinion.

  Marriage is a legally binding contract. Sometimes once they get you, they stop trying. Both partners get too comfortable and stop trying. It just turns into a mess. The only good thing to come out of marriage is the kids.

  Kinda like a statement of ownership. I will tell you one thing though. Marriage certificates, rings and vows don't keep people faithful. You can't rely on that certificate, the love has to be deeper than that. It just makes it more humiliating if you get cheated on and a bigger nightmare to get out of the relationship. The only good thing is the kids, but lots of people end up divorced and coparenting anyway. Marriage was just fun for a while. I still see marriages that ended as technically successful marriages if it lasted 10 years or more and produced happy children.

  That may be true, but life is more about the journey than the destination. Being married was an experience that I'm glad I got to have, not everybody gets that chance. I can't say I didn't enjoy a lot of it. It was pretty cool to live with someone and have a little family while it lasted. I wouldn't do it again, but everyone should do whatever they think they can handle.

  That's what I'm trying to balance. I want to convince the woman I date that if she doesn't want kids there's no good reason for us to get married. I've been there, done that and it doesn't end well. I want to show her that I can give her more more love and support than she ever dreamed of, but just don't try to trap me with paperwork.

  It would have to be a woman who's financially independent. I'm not meaning that other women are gold diggers, I'm just saying if you suddenly found yourself without a home, would you be OK? She's out there, but you're gonna have your work cut out for you trying to find her.

  Yes, she definitely has to be financially independent. In the past I didn't care if my wife had a job or not, I always took care of her but that didn't work out. I may even be better off to find a somewhat wealthy woman who's scared to get married because she doesn't want to lose anything. Maybe she just wants love and doesn't need a man for money. Or divorced like you said is good. My issue is that recently I met a 38 year old woman, we were flirting and dancing. We started talking seriously and she's like "I really want a baby and to get married." In my head I'm like "Seriously, you're 38 fucking years old what have you been doing?" I already did all that and I don't even have the desire to feed babies in the middle of the night anymore and work two jobs to pay for everything. Not to mention waiting until you're that age to start having babies increases their chance f having health issues. I seriously need a woman who's looking for love and companionship, not just a husband and provider. I've learned that there's a difference. Love and companionship, Boyfriend/Girlfriend is fun. The other one is more like a job.

  I'm going to go off topic, but this thought just popped into my head. I posted this on another site, and it got some interesting replies. I worked in a country club, and there was a French chef. We were talking about relationships. He said it was very well known in his family, that his mother had a boyfriend, and his dad had a girlfriend. He said that his life growing up was awesome. There were never any fights between his parents. They were just two happy people. But he also said that this was very common in France. Sex is "farmed out." The two biggest reasons for divorce, are money and sex. Apparently, the French took half of that out of the equation. I would never post that in this site, because this site is home to the most narrow-minded people on the planet. They would think I'm the anti-Christ for even bringing it up. I leave them to their fairy tale hopes that will never happen. You'll find you lady, but it will just be more work. She'll be divorced, well off financially, and her ex probably either cheated on her or paid no attention to her. You just need to be the once piece missing to her puzzle.

  Thanks, I hope I do find her. I understand your comment about sex being "Farmed out" of some marriages. After my marriage ended I met a woman that was very emotionally compatible with me. She was totally obsessed with movies and music about relationships. She was very idealistic and needed a lot of attention. It was the perfect match for my lovey dovey tendancies. We would talk and sext everyday constantly until I found out that she's married. It was so confusing because I found the perfect woman for me, but yet she's so incredibly flawed and she's such a bad idea. That experience just made me realize that a lot of people that have been married for a long time are desperately looking for attention outside of their marriages. They really aren't content long-term and crave new experiences. I'm not saying I would stay in a marriage like that unless it benefited both partners equally. I think it's pretty rare. I think most open marriages end up one-sided and maybe both partners don't find love and sex elseware. I wouldn't want to be humiliated or trapped in a cuckold situation. I did have the opportunity to sleep with my wife and her best friend at one point. I I turned it down. I was in my 20's and deeply in love with my wife at the time. I didn't want anyone else and didn't want to share her. I said "If I wanted to sleep around I would be single.' I wanted her and I didn't want to mess up our marriage. If I would've known that she would end up being unfaithful in the long run I would've fucked all her friends. Live and learn I guess.

  There's a funny movie called: "LA Story." It's a comedy with Steve Martin. Sarah Jessica Parker is in the movie, and her boyfriend announces he wants an open relationship, so she agrees.   That's exactly what I would be affraid of. Sometimes I get on a roll and have more women to talk to and date than I can handle. Otber times I have noone and feel totally rejected. Some women can just pick any guy at work and make him a fuck buddy. It's not that simple for me and not a lot if women are willing to get involved with a married man. I can't even imagine the conversation. "Hey, I think you're really beautiful, I want to get to know you and also my wife is okay if we fuck. " 👍 Most women would probably laugh at me. Whereas most guys are so hard up for sex that banging another guy's wife is like a dream. They get her body, but none if the bills, stress and responsibility of the marriage. That's why I avoid open relationships. As far as my wife goes she was pretty shady. I wasted a whole lotta loyalty on her.   The whole thing is very complicated, and there's no right or wrong answer. If you're not planning to have kids, then I'd just suggest a friends with benefits.   I will probably pursue a friends with benefits situation if the opportunity comes up. I won't lie, it's difficult for me to do that after having really long relationships. I need more than just sex. I'm used to having it all and there's gonna be feelings happening between us whether she's ready for it or not. 😅 I'm good at loving people and it's just natural for me to want to be affectionate and bond with her as well as the sexual aspect. It's how I get hurt eventually and why marriage is a bad idea for me.   I'm with you on the realistic sex doll stuff. Sex toys and sexting partners is one way to fill the void. It still lacks intimacy though. Cuddling, making out, wrestling, making her laugh, being naked together, sharing a bed, showering together, holding hands as well as the scent and feel of a woman are lacking.
