Why do women cry so more than men?

I saw a question asking "when was the last time you cried" and most of the guys said months or even years ago but most of the women said things like "this morning", "yesterday" , "a few days ago", "last week", etc..

  • Estrogen makes us crazy. And men are told its not OK to cry from a really young age so they are socialised to get mad or internalise their feelings instead.

    • I'm not crazy

    • @valbona... u keep telling yourself that ;)

  • God made woman more sensitive then men because God wanted woman to relate to the children they are caring for who are much weaker than full grown adults.

God made men less sensitive then woman because God wanted men to fend for his family and his clan in the real world with physical dangers and high stress environmental triggers.

    • This is sexist Bullshit

    • @valbona its sexist bullshit to say sexist bullshit

    • ^ I agree with this, except I would switch out God with evolution

  • Emotional tears are caused by prolactin hormone which is a secretion of pituitary gland. This hormone secretion is higher in women.

  • Fluctuation of hormones women experience. Is the biggest reason.

  • Because men are mortally afraid of vulnerability..

  • I think it’s because we tend be more emotional and therefore we are more likely to let things get to us easily. It’s either that, or most guys just tend to show their emotions in different ways than girls (for example anger, ignoring others, etc)

  • Because you touch yourself at night

  • It seems to be looked down upon for men to cry. Girls, not so much.

  • 1. Men are taught to hold in their feelings
    2. Women have a lot of hormone changes depending on the point in their menstrual cycle that can cause emotions to change out of nowhere. I was watching waitress the musical (bootleg) on my phone for probably the 500th time last night and i suddenly became very emotional after one of the characters had a baby and i began crying a little.

  • hormones really. and plus society has tried to keep men from "seeming weak" though I don't think letting off tears is a sign of being weak.

  • Because we're better people, also the bad men hurt us a lot.

  • The hormone prolactin makes women more likely to cry even at the same level of negative emotion as a noncrying man. It has nothing to do with superiority or inferiority; it's just a difference in emotional outlet

  • We could just say we are emotionally superior because we know how to share are feelings and communicate. But no one is emotionally superior. We are just emotionally different and each sex has their good and bad points.😁

    • Btw! We cry and men get angry. That's what hormones do to us.

  • Because evolution made us such soft bastards.

  • Nothing to do with emotional superiority, but it's much to do with toughness. :)

  • Men are emotionally different. They just don't feel or deal with emotions the same way as women do. They say men think with their brains and women think with their hearts - it's why guys don't hold grudges as easily, or force resolutions to an argument quickly without slowing down to help the woman get passed it emotionally.

It's a temperamental difference - one of many. Women are generally just more susceptible to letting their emotions crack through the surface, and it's likely because they value emotions more. Man's logical mind has the downside of being harsh or cold, and woman's emotional mind has the downside of letting those emotions get the better of them.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that

  • Most women are more emotional but the other reason is that men are often hiding their feelings and worries. Many of them think that crying is "unmanly". But their nature is to protect so they are/should be usually more sane in hard situations to be able to take care of family etc.

  • Men are emotionally more stable.

  • Women have smaller tear ducts than men so women easy release their tears.

And don't tell me that the gender with higher suicide rates is 'emotionally superior'.

    • men are just better at killing themselves when they decide to do it. women are more likely to suffer from psychological problems, to experience suicidal thoughts and attempt suicide. mental health disorders tend to be around 20-40% higher for women than for men

    • And yet women deal with it and still move on with their lives unlike men who decide to treat their headache by slitting their heads off.

    • They attempt suicide more than men do

  • The little pink thing in your eyes that keeps the wetness of the eye (tears) is bigger for men, meaning it holds bigger amount of wetness without having to release it. With women it goes out very easily, so it's easier for us to cry
