Why do women RAPE MORE than men in prisons?

It is well established that women are about half the adult rapists outside prison and the majority of child rapists. But inside prison it's another story. The rate of inmate-on-inmate sexual victimization is at least 3 times higher for females (13.7%) than males (4.2%) Female prison officers commit 90% of sex assaults on male teens in US juvenile detention centres Men in prison report higher rates of sexual misconduct by staff members than women (most of which is committed by staff of the opposite sex).

  • I would say that, when it comes to inmates, women are more sadistic. This is controversial. So I'll explain.
    Men commit more crime then women. More men commit crimes than women do.
    However, in an odd flip, it seems like the MINORITY of women who commit crimes seem to commit the crime in a more extreme way.

    let's say there are 10 murders. 9 by men, each 1 bullet to the head, 1 by a woman, where the victim was stabbed 27 times.
    It seems that woman are significantly less inclines to commit violent/harsh crimes, but the few who DO seem more inclined to take the crime farther.

    So, while it is slander, and a flat out lie, to say women are more sadistic then men, it also may be true that female VIOLENT CRIMINALS are more sadistic than SOME of their male counterparts.

    as for female officers? it is simply a power thing. There is a famous, and disturbing, experiment in the 1970s that shows just how much power and authority goes to people's heads. Otherwise good people, when put into a position of power, especially over criminals or those otherwise socially "worth less," have a tendency to become more sadistic, and they don't feel it is wrong. This is also, I believe, the root cause in why police brutality and corruption happens. they aren't bad people, but their position of power makes them think they are special and have authority they don't have, and this is backed up by their actions being actively covered up.

    • WRONG. Contrary to the feminist myth... women actually commit the majority of violent crime. Throughout history, Queens have been much more warlike than Kings. By normal (non-feminist) standards, divorce is supposed to be a crime. So today with so many women getting a divorce, they are all criminals? Point being that the laws of today are made by feminists. The war on drugs has begun since women's liberation... and this amounts for a large share (up to half) of the prisoners... many men are also imprisoned for domestic violence wrongly, while women (who commit the majority of this crime) are roaming free. Don't forget that the vast majority of criminals are actually made in single-mother homes whereas they are not made in motherless or two-parent homes. Many men are in for robbery, but somehow women are legally allowed to rob us of our possessions in relationships... women make lots of money using dating/relationships/marriage

Most people just laugh when a woman kicks a man in the balls or slaps him... or even throws water at him These are all crimes... but not only are women hardly ever expected to talk to the police... even in the rare court cases, bias against men is 6 times greater than racial bias. You need to see the complete picture.

Then again, I believe some women are capable of amazing evil. You sound like you think woman are evil incarnate, and if we don't keep them barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, civilization as we know it will end. We get it.   • I am not sure about the statistics. Finding studies that can be trusted are a huge problem. If they are true however then I would say it might be that female sexuality is treated differently than male sexuality. Even consensual sex is seen as the man devaluing the woman. Where as the woman can sometimes rape a guy or even a minor, and be seen as her doing him a favor.

    It is almost like the woman can not harm anyone other than herself through having sex, while a man can not be seen as having sex, without harming others. This may lead to a rape culture of sorts, that make women think what they do is more acceptable than it actually is. That could explain the huge number of raped boys.

    I would say that the issue of prison rape is a different matter. The court system is more unfair to men. Most women don't go to prison for long, even in the unlikely event they are convicted. Pretty much only the worst of the worst women go to prison and stay there for long. A guy can do something and stay in prison much longer than a woman for the same crime, and is more likely to be convicted. This means overall there are a lot of less dangerous men in prison, while female prisons have fewer prisoners, but the ones that are there, tend to be far more violent than the average man in prison. This would lead to a higher percentage of women in prison acting violent, while the men's prisons suffer from over crowding, but remain less violent.

  • This stat makes me wonder if the poster who said men were more likely to hide rape from another man:

    • I agree that female sexual abuse of men should have more awareness around it, however.

    • Also, "sexual victimization" of inmates includes foundling breasts or buttocks, according to your last source, which says: "More specifically, unwanted and sexually suggestive touching of breasts, genitals, or buttocks is more typical inside prison than the act of rape itself."

    • Unwanted breast grabbing could easily raise female on female stats higher than males, as this kind of intimidation doesn't really have a male counterpart.

  • Women rape more--if they do--because lesbianism is more socially acceptable--and encouraged--than male-on-male sex.

    • That's a plausible theory.

    • it doesn't matter how socially acceptable lesbianism is, rape is still not socially acceptable, and neither is sexual assault. I find this theory to be rather poor.

    • @ksoma Rape is often a means of dominance more than an act of sexuality. Expressing dominant behavior is expressed in many ways, however. It could also be that in male prison, the way to express dominance is mostly via violence and stepping up, so rape is less necessary. But I would also claim that social upbringing is a huge factor, along with social conditioning. Such as male homosexuality being excessively frowned upon and lesbianism being applauded. Naturally it depends on the environment. There are many variables. But rape being more common in female prison would enforce rape as a more often method of dominance, rather than the male prison where dominance is expressed through cutting someone's throat or beating the shit out of someone more often than rape is used.

  • Where did you get those statistics? Sources (I find they give credence to an argument) (also not saying your lying I know about the CDC crap where they tried to cover up female on male rapes and have suspected from what I have read of the female sexually assualting juvenile detanies)

  • Insecurity, and the need for self-validation at any cost. Plus, until recently, women could get away with it more often, simply because of how outrageous it seemed that woman even *could* commit rape.

    It's the same reason that women in positions of power tend to be bullies even more than men, and are even more resistant to correction when called out on bullying.

    Also, lesbians and bisexual women are such insecure creatures (the abomination itself plus the life factors that drove them to it, make them this way), that they need to cushion that insecurity by proving to themselves that they don't have to feel inferior. (Though they secretly feel that way.) Therefore, they have a psychotic need to be in a position of unquestioning control and domination over others.

    As such, authority positions are like a beehive to a hungry bear. And once they get in, the trap is set. Their perversion becomes their curse, the addiction they must feed. And now that they, the foxes, control the hen houses, it's as bad as throwing a smack addict into a heroin house and telling them not to touch anything.

  • I would go with more "horny", but it's actually more gay, and it's hold true both in the prison and outside the prison, it's much more common and easy for women to have lesbian sex, while men would be very desperate to have gay sex.
