Men have lower physical standards in a hook up, than in a relationship. We evolved to think that way. Every shot at sex with random women is an opportunity to maybe produce more kids. It's basically 'always' a good thing. Now we could probably only devote ourselves and -resources- to raising kids with one female (at least at a time). So while we might want to bang every fertile woman in sight, we're only going to devote resources to one who is physically superior (i. e. hotter), loyal to us (i. e. its our kids getting the benefits) and hopefully sweet (good mother).
Women's instincts are different. Studies have shown that women have higher, not lower, physical requirements for a hookup. Basically, every time a woman had sex for most of evolution, she was considering investing years in raising that guy's child. For that to be worth it, he either needed to be above average (hopefully) in terms of genetics AND devoted to her so that he'd provide and help her raise the kid, OR, amazing genetics so that its worth going solo.
On top of that, women tend to go for even more 'masculine' males in short term, and women who tend towards hookups are more likely to go for very high masculine oriented men. This seems pretty reasonable to me, my guess is that if women were in an environment where for whatever reason men weren't sticking around to raise kids (war, etc), there's no point mating with men who are balanced strong/good father, you might as well get the strongest and most aggressive guy's genes.

Well I avoided specifics. Instincts aren't that clever. They can't tell you stunted your growth. A woman who likes tall men is likely not going to say 'oh he's a tall guy who stunted his growth'. But you know, a lot of women don't really care much about height. There are a whole TON of markers of male power/status, and no man has all of them, and all would likely be overkill. Different women value different markers. Being smart, funny, cool, athletic, popular, tall, muscular, fast, good singing voice, well dressed (by her standards), socially responsible, a leader, strong convictions, resolute, courageous, all of these are 'plus' factors. Have as many plus factors as you can, and women who value the ones you have will be all over you. I'm a shit dancer, overly uptight about some stuff, and don't put on muscle well. Women who like those things? I have no chance with them. Just like a short guy has little chance with women who prioritize 'tall'. But that's okay.
I'm a short man and the reason I don't get laid is because I don't go around looking for it and to be honest I am rather a cold, unfriendly and unapproachable guy on first impressions not many girls will want to interact with someone who looks like he'd rather not be disturbed and left alone.
That said a lot of short men do get laid, Red_Dragon is short, he's shorter than me and doesn't seem to have any problems.
I believe there are women associate a man being tall with a large penis. In my experience... the short guys I have been with are way more endowed then the tall men I have been with. Now... I dont think that height dictates penis size. But I do think a lot of women think that.

It may be a subconscious reproduction need that women seem to have implanted in their brains. I'm not biologist, but it's definitely something of interest. It could be that women who are tall naturally want a guy who is shorter because she feels that will make her children around average height or at least shorter than her. Maybe that could be a problem if she has a boy, but if she has a girl at least she will not be as tall as her mother or at the very least as tall as her mother. Though the chances of that happening is less than if a tall guy was the father.
The same I believe could be said for short girls. Short girls may subconsciously feel that a short guy would make their kids shorter as well. This is why they may prefer tall guys because they want their kids around average height.
Some minor reasons that mask the big reason are things like "I can't wear heels." "He won't protect me as well." "I feel he's unmasculine." All these are logical, but I think subconsciously they want a balance height for their kids.
All that said bro I'm short and plenty of girls are okay with just hooking up. Most of the girls are taller than me too. It seems it's only the really short girls who want really tall guys. Even then plenty of them have been interested too.

I think it's because when a man is shorter then a woman, she feels like the one that is more in control of the relationship and like they are the stronger ones and with that I think that with most girls it doesn't feel right since the one that should be able to control the relationship and protecting anyone should be the guy.

Human attraction is driven by evolutionary factors. Women are naturally attracted to bigger, stronger men because throughout history those men were more likely to be successful and make good providers and protectors. So for women, tall = sexually attractive.
Taller doesn't equate to bigger and stronger. If I am 5'6' but built, girl is 5'7" skinny, I am bigger anway.
