I've seen some people on here say things like this, so I wanted to give my own view, on why I think this isn't true.

A study...only has a small number random people in it! It doesn't speak for the hundreds of millions of us. Also, who knows how biased the survey takers could have been?

It's true lots of women get drunk when they have hookups, but so do plenty of guys. And many promiscuous women can even be in and out constantly in relationships. So just because she's not distinctly hooking up doesn't mean she hasn't been with lots of men.

The #1 reason I don't agree with this idea is because: Why can't women just <3 having sex too? Why does it have to be about the guy at all? She could simply want to fuck a hot guy.

Which, is actually being selective in picking a partner. Wouldn't being promiscuous, really mean that she doesn't find anything about her partner to be attractive whether it's emotionally or physically?

I think the true definition of being promiscuous (which if you google one of the dictionary definitions is not selectively picking partners) would be someone who fucks without any attraction, just to fuck.

  • It is not necessarily promiscuous women that have problems as much as it is average girls who behave promiscuously at one point or another that do. The truly promiscuous women are ironically some of the nicest and most nonjudgmental women I have ever met. But it is the average girls who decide to do porn once or engage in threesomes and orgies a couple of times that truly have the problems. Because they are unwilling to admit that what they have done is wrong. Yet at the same time, they cannot accept that it is right either. So they are very conflicted, and still expect for men to treat them like queens.

    • I have definitely seen this and agree with your answer. Women who aren't honest with themselves... it's so true what you said! If you're going to be promiscuous then own it and be proud but to lie... I always thought that was weird.

    • Oh, yours is the one of the only nice comments from the guys, so I just wanted to ask: What do you think the conflicted feelings that average girls can have are? Like you say right and wrong, do you mean they feel guilty when promiscuous women don't?

    • What i mean is that unlike promiscuous women, they do not know who they are and what they truly believe. On the one hand, they want to still feel honorable and pure in the traditional sense, and yet, they also want to feel "liberated" and "progressive." So they feel both simultaneously guilty and proud of the fact that they are promiscuous, which causes conflict. On the other hand, truly promiscuous women have made peace with their lifestyle, for better or for worse, and thus there is less conflict.

  • When you say the word "Promiscuous", I think of Machine Guns... Like the M60, or the M240, even better... the M134... every straight man's dream. The so-called "mini-gun".

    Even your legs, as hot as they might be, never saw that much action.

  • The reason women can't just have sex too is because they are not built the same as men. If a woman got pregnant historicly speaking what would the consequences be? You cannot think in terms of now but of biological and historical terms. So she has sex, now because the man ejaculates into her she is at higher risk of STD's then a man is and in an era that did not have medicine this would result in death more then likely (syphilis would migrate to the brain cause inflammation of the brain resulting in basicly them going crazy then dying) but lets ignore that and focus on pregnancy, how would that affect a woman? Do you think a pregnant woman could do strenuous labor? No not with out considerable risk to the offspring, do you think she would have been able to provide for herself and her child (i. e. requiring more energy then normal) in a world that already frequently resulted in people dying of starvation? Not very well. Do you think that she could defend herself, out run a predator or climb a tree to escape a predator while pregnant? Maybe the first trimester (again at risk of the offsprings life). Now she gives birth (which could take hours which would leave her vulnerable) so is she in the clear now? No, she might be able to bring herself to abandon the child (though when a woman gives birth her brain is flooded with oxytocin in order to ensure a strong emotional bond to the child) but again all that effort and energy wasted for sex which lasted what an hour? But lets say she can't bring herself to abandon that child what happens then? Well breast feeding which of course takes protiens and fats from the mother so she does require more nutrients then usual, this lasting several years. So is she in the clear now? No that child is dependent on her for at least ten years. After all of that whats the probability she would want to sleep around again? Pretty slim. Hence studies showing that women and men both suffer ill effects when promiscuis but women significantly more so then men because biologicaly they would have more then likely died (its also why women are approached by men and then men prove themselves and curry favor with the woman in order to reproduce because she is the one taking all the risk). Plus again multiple studies have shown that poor home life leads to promiscuity (especially a womans relationship with her father has significant impact on her promiscuity) and that promiscuity itself leads to depression inability to form lasting bonds etc.

    • Just because we want something doesn't mean its healthy, we like sugary foods, doesn't mean indulging in that isn't going to lead to diabetes or health problems. That's actually why it has always been women who have controlled womens sexuality not men because men are not the ones suffering from it (well not in any obvious way, not at first). So women who are promiscuis do in fact have issues as has been shown by numerous studies.

    • I've read women in the past used to get preggo really early on anyway. Especially in other cultures... so pregnancy would have been expected. It's only these days people don't want to get preggo. I doubt the father thing is true; I read before that back in the 1950s or the idealistic family time the cheating rates from marriages for both men and women were fairly high. And the kicker is, if everyone was married young, who could they have been cheating with except other married couples? So I think sex has always caused complications for people, and issues aren't new. And I also think that morality as we see it now wasn't the same way back when. Like guys could have multiple wives and all that, so it depends on how you even define promiscuity historically.

    • Yes but your ignoring the circumstances of the sex their was a reason why men gave women things, why men always paid for everything why women waited until marriage, a social and legal contract that explicitly stated the man was by law responsible for her well being and thus had to pay for her needs and defend her to the death. Pregnancy as I pointed out is deadly alone but with some one reliable its much much safer hence us having the systems that we do, don't you think its odd that we would have this so ingrained in our culture and basicly every single major and minor culture just "because"? Their is a reason for it but because of modern technology we have forgotten that reason but our biology hasn't. As for cheating it was rarer because of the simple fact that a woman isn't going to cheat if she knows that the one person keeping her alive will abandon her, we punished cheaters unlike today where we reward them (well if their female). So cheating was less frequent

  • In general people who sleep around a lot do have issues. Every girl I've known who has been the type to sleep around has had some sort of issue, very often one of the major ones being the lack of a strong father. I know that because when I was younger I slept around quite a bit, and I'll admit that I had some serious issues. There are reasons these people can't hold down relationships, can have emotionally empty sex, are attracted to and attract the wrong kinds of people.

    • Like I said, lots of promiscuous women have short term relationships! It's not just fucking in hookups. And if you Google, married people way back when had a fairly high cheating rate... with other married couples lol Lastly, hookups... how did you ask them what their fam life was like if all you did was hookup?

    • I know they do, never denied that. Those are often the kinds of people so insecure that they have to have somebody - anybody - because they can't handle being single and just waiting for the right person. They might have had high cheating rates - proves nothing. I'd still assume those people had issues, especially having seen the kinds of people who are married in the swinger community and the BDSM community - fuck ups all over the place. Most of the time they'd just tell me themselves, it would just kind of slip into conversation - we didn't just talk about sex obviously and somehow that always came up that either they never saw him or he was a piece of shit. Some were girlfriends too who I'd slept with a few times and they asked me to be in a relationship, then obviously we went deeper there, until they'd almost always eventually cheat while at the same time accusing me of the same despite the fact that I was always faithful.

    • I was talking like 1950s past, so I assume bdsm wasn't so accepted for most people. For the rest... that doesn't mean they had issues! Sex could have just a more open idea for those girls. Like if they had grown up more traditionally, that doesn't mean they wouldn't have those same desires sexy men... are sexy!

  • Promiscuity and sociopathy/narcissism go hand in hand. I've never met a normal woman (no personality disorders or self-esteem problems) woman that was promiscuous.

  • Some may have problems and some may not, I can't say I have given it much thought or possess any knowledge on promiscuity as I am not a promiscuous man.

    I don't have anything against promiscuous women, I don't shame them and generally if I know a woman is promiscuous I will keep out of her way. I don't want a promiscuous woman and I hope the feeling is very much mutual.
