Why is groping more common in East Asia?

I have always been wondering, how did groping be a thing mostly in East Asia countries especially in metros - trains?

Why it is more common in this region than other regions around the world? Despite that it's known as a respectful and kind country such as Japan - Singapore - Malaysia yet groping happens daily.

I have been to Malaysia - Singapore - Japan and I seen it daily in front of me when i go to public transportation especially the girls who are alone, although I was with my family so I was safe from being groped.

  • East Asian society, especially Japanese is actually very perverted. They watch that Hentai, and see these rent-a-girlfriends, Geishas, massage with happy ending girls and see how their pop stars dress see women as sex symbols. Also a lot of them are autistic and don't understand right from wrong, and they're also socially awkward and single and have never touched a woman in their life.

It's funny how the Japanese government will protect stupid Geishas from being touched by tourists, but won't protect average Japanese girls and tourists from being fondled by their own pervert men.

Though I give them props for making a law saying it's illegal to sneak up skirt photos. But the fact that it was such a problem and they actually needed a law to prevent people from doing it, should tell you everything you need to know.

Model race people🤣 What a joke

  • I would hazard a guess it’s the historical role of women in society, as in there has been no issues with treating them like this. At times Western countries are as bad.

  • In Japan, men have traditionally been worked nearly to death - and in fact, men committing suicide or just dying at their desks from overwork is so common that they have terms for them. Just for context, even if your "official" work day is, say, 9 hours, you are expected to arrive 2 hours early, and to stay 3-4 hours late, to show support to the company. If you don't, you don't get promoted and may be demoted or fired.

This means that "salarymen" (your typical office worker) is often unable to even go home during the week, and very commonly rent coffin-sized "rooms" to sleep in. This means that even if a man is married and has a wife at home, he rarely sees her. As you can imagine, this causes men to be incredibly sexually frustrated (their wives as well). And for all the men who can't find a relationship - which is increasingly the case - they're even more sexually frustrated.

As such, this sexual energy MUST find some kind of outlet, or there will be violent revolution in the streets - as has happened around the world when large groups of men are sexually repressed. This is why porn, Hentai ("adult" comic books), and prostitution are incredibly common and largely ignored (unless you are a foreigner, who are under much more restrictive rules). It's also why groping on crowded trains is largely ignored, though some trains (the busiest/most used) now have female-only cars, with police enforcing the policy of not allowing males on those cars.

Much of this is the same or similar in other east Asian countries. I don't endorse this, but I definitely understand why it happens. As previously stated, history is full of stories from all over the world where men were denied sexual access and sooner or later rose up against the society and destroyed it. This is, in fact, exactly the reason why the Roman Catholic Church pushed so hard for marriage - they saw other societies disintegrate when a king or pharaoh or emperor deny average men's access to women, and understood that in order to grow, they needed the stability that could only come from men having a woman available to them (and women having a man to protect her and provide for her), and thus, formalizing and normalizing marriage in society. This happened 3000 years ago and kept the Holy Roman Empire alive for more than a thousand years.

    • I guess that's their karma for centuries of violence, oppression and war crimes

  • Uneducation! Not treating women equally! Maybe very mild laws and sentencing!

  • because westerners teach not to, only westerners.

  • Because the women are more attractive than Karen and her cadre of social justice lawyers.

  • lot of em dont respect women or themselves

  • I honestly doubt that it is, mediajust likes to take unisual circumstances and inflate them because unusual occurances are shocking and therefor make news ratings skyrocket.

    • media just likes to take unusual*

  • Groping is considered a perversion in some countries and not perverted in other countries.

  • I guess it happens more in conservative places where there's less chance of contact with the opposite sex, and such public places provide a chance for depraved people.
It happens too in the middle east.

  • They consider females as second class citizens

  • Because it's easier for them to get away

    • That's actually kind of true because I saw a story where a member of the self proclaimed "model race", was sticking his phone over the stall in the women's restroom and not even trying to be subtle about it. The girl happened to be a waitress at the restaurant, and all she did was ask him to delete the photos and she sent him on his way.
