Why is it called labia minora when it more often protrudes past the majora?

My guess is that when the anatomists were studying this they had mostly women with smaller inner labia and it just never got changed as latin became less of a prominent language.

British folk during the renaissance and medieval times varied on their skin color age gender height weight etc. the point i was trying to make was those who knew latin and spoke it were of that general type i previously mentioned since they were the ones who typically translated the dead latin language to modern English and they and previous others before them were the ones who named the body parts majora and minora like they did with the stars and cosmos and animals and other things as their really screwed up way of saying big small inner outer. why they said that no clue maybe badly translated text or maybe the words inner and outer didn't exist at the time when it body parts and other things around them were being studied and recorded. it's anyone's guess or maybe they really did study women who had a bigger labia on the outside and smaller one on the inside which was why they referred to it as majora and minora
