Why is it called labia minora when it more often protrudes past the majora?

  • My guess is that when the anatomists were studying this they had mostly women with smaller inner labia and it just never got changed as latin became less of a prominent language.

  • For the same reason that the larger of the two is the "small" intestine, and the smaller is the "large"- because biologists aren't very smart.

    • You’re probably right

  • Maybe because it encircles the labia minora and hence considered the larger one as it's the outer portion. I don't think of any other reason. The actual part of the vulva is the labia minora

    • I suppose circumference wise it’s larger but in length it’s most often smaller. I don't know why so many are suprised that it’s most often smaller in length I guess is my conclusion.

    • It maybe smaller in length but logically if you see the labia minora is the content or the center portion which is inside the labia majora. You wouldn't consider something within a thing the larger one right?

    • If it is more noticeable, I think I would

  • Why do we park in the driveway, and drive in the parkway? Why do they call it hot water heater, when hot water is already hot?

  • Because anatomically it is a smaller organ even if it might be more visible.

  • Because they are in front if the minora, which can be long, tiny or be mere ridges. In most cases, they are the lesser pair.

    • Most cases they protrude past

    • Not "innies".

    • Most cases

  • Not sure. I've always wondered about that one myself.

  • Mine don't 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • I don't know but I love it when they are long

  • Because inner flaps and outer flaps doesn't sound as sciencey

    • Inner and outer labia does

  • Because the labia majora is more than just the area most are probably thinking of and it extends from the mons pubis downward and backward to merge with the skin of the perineum aka taint.

  • Because the majora is thicker than the minora.

  • because that part of her pussy lips are still inwards of her pussy not the outer lips of her pussy

    • stupid misnaming scheme misnomer

    • So shouldn’t it be inner and outer labia? Instead of majora and minora. Minora is small majora is big lol nothing to do with placement

    • i know exactly but hey i didn't make the terms up go talk to webster's dictionary and Brittanica encyclopedia about it
