Why is it that being an Incel is so looked down upon in the US but being gay or something similar is always appraised?

In my country and culture there's no shame in being a late virgin or remaining a virgin forever. In fact we feel sorry for someone who couldn't establish any meaningful relationships with the opposite gender and couldn't have a family.
Because it's indeed a sad fate...

Yet you go around making fun of incels calling them genetic dead ends, losers etc etc.
But if it's a gay person everyone will run to them to give them a hug and telling them everything will be ok

I'm not implying that gay people deserve worse treatments. I merely used them as an example for comparison purposes.

The thing is that this virgin shaming that's so rampant is a perfect example of toxic sexuality
Didn't the sexual revolution that happened over there intend for sexual freedom and equality and not oppression?

Making fun of an incel simply because they can't get laid is just as dumb as making fun of somebody just because they can't learn/speak etc. No one deserves punishment and belittlement for something out of their control.

I'm a 22 yr old virgin and thank god I don't live in the US

  • Well, for starters, there's three very different definitions of the term "incel."

The true definition is a male who is deemed so unattractive, physically, personality wise, or both, that he cannot get any woman to like him or want to date or sleep with him. Yes, this version of an "incel" is very much just a late virgin.

But then, there's another definition of an incel, mutated from a subreddit, /r/incel. These are a subset of the first group who have grown to hate and resent women for not being able to have a partner, no matter what they do. Famous American mass shooter Elliot Rodger was a part of this subreddit, which is why the sentiment of them have turned from pity to bullying. While many, if not most, of their claims are valid, their rage and legitimate misogyny (not the progressive buzzword "misogyny") has only helped to create a self-fulfilling prophecy. They can't get laid, so they grow to resent women, which keeps them from getting laid. It's a vicious cycle.

Lastly, there's the far-left, SJW definition of an "incel" which is essentially any single, non-progressive, and is just used as an immature insult by extremely immature people. By this definition, any single male who is center or right-leaning becomes labeled an "incel' by default by these people, due to them projecting inaccurate claims of misogyny that lumps in normal centrist or conservatives into the same category as the /r/incel virgins with rage.

So to reiterate, there's true incels, which are just perpetual male virgins for life. There's misogynist incels, which mostly came from the /r/incel subreddit. And there's the progressive immature buzzword "incel" which is a clue not to take the person saying it seriously anymore. Some men will mock true incels just for being virgins in their mid to late twenties or older. Most people will mock the /r/incels type due to being similar to Elliot Rodger and being truly misogynistic. And SJW's and feminists just like to call people "incels" because they're immature retards.

    Hope that clarifies things.

  • I got no problem with people who are single even if its their entire life. I do however got a problem with people who think I should feel bad for them especially if its something I think they could easily change. I am pretty convinced that anyone could get a partner if they tried but that is somewhat irrelevant. Most incels are not incels because they are rejected by the opposite gender but because they are just feeding into their own sense of victimhood. Its a cry for attention and a weird sense of self importance that I find disgusting.

  • I think it says a lot about human nature, we have to find ba reason to hate. As it becomes less acceptable to hate people based on traditional reasons such as race or religion people look for alternative reasons. Characteristics that aren't protected by discrimination laws are easy targets.

  • The incels blame others for their inability to attract a mate. There’s no law saying “sorry, you aren’t allowed to have a partner”. And instead of working on themselves they just repeat that it’s so unfair. Completely different from the situation for gay people who faced persecution, loss of career, loss of housing, and physical violence. No one makes fun of incels until they start whining while also refusing to make any effort to change their situation.

  • I'm literally autistic and even *I* can get laid.

    You're just not even trying.

    • But I stay inside all day

    • EXACTLY DUDE! You're *not* trying.

    • How am i supposed to try when everywhere i go people have hostile attitudes toward me. I get dirty looks from everyone

  • Incels are guys who have no game, refuse to work on it, expect women to come to them, and blame the world for all of the above.
Of course this is looked down upon. Nobody can support this crap

  • The US is super religious not a Muslim country but outside of Southeast Asia, and the Muslim world, is probably the best country to be a virgin. It’s the norm for people to wait until marriage for a sexual relationship here. I don’t even live in the south I live on the West Coast it’s totally normal to be a virgin until your late twenties here.

    • The US is NOT "super religious"even in the Bible Belt. If you believe otherwise, you've obviously never been anywhere or talked to anyone from a place that IS super religious.

    • @MrOracle yeah it is have you been to Japan, or the Netherlands?

  • I agree, virgin shaming in America is a terrible problem. Especially since STDs are also at pandemic levels here. And it doesn't help when people say we need to improve our selves when the things that are holding us back are things that we have no control over.
