It isn't okay. Let's start with that.
But the vast majority of it seems to come from men. But there a few women who have done it as well.
It usually happens alongside other shame tactics, like not being aggressive.
Sometimes it's things like disagreeing with a girl: "You'll never get laid thinking like that." Who asked you?
Complaining about a double standard or frustration: "You're just some whiny virgin"
Then there are associations "You sound kinda nuts dude. I think you need to get laid."
I think the primary thing is how being a virgin is directly associated with being undesirable. This doesn't happen so much with women I suppose there's more "presumed desirability" and so a virgin girl might be considered a "prude". "prude" is alongside "slut" in labels women mostly give each other, but think mostly come from men.
But, assuming you are a virgin for asking this, you need not worry. Most girls really couldn't care less. They might be like "well, he'll need a bit of practice", but they are less likely than other men to associate your desirability with your virginity.0 1 0 0It's true that the awareness of virgin shaming is much lower, but it's because while it is a more personal attack, it does not implicitly justify violence and rape against the person. Slut shaming implies that all sluts want sex, and therefore would love it from anyone, and also that sluts are the scum of the Earth undeserving of any kind of respect. While being a 'slut' is a choice, how is it reasonable to hate someone so much for doing no technical harm to anyone (even rather, the opposite), and justify even violence?
Apart from that, slut shaming also implies that women's virginity ("purity") is something of great value, that they actively choose to butcher by having sex with numerous guys. But what does that even mean? How does having sex with someone decrease one's value as a PERSON? Honestly, this entire thing is conceptually broken, in my opinion. I'm not really a fan of promiscuity from either sides, but not because it's "immoral", but because it's risky behavior with some value implications that I find undesirable.3 1 0 1everyone has their own opinion, views that was mine :)

This is something I haven't encountered. And while I have seen much much much more slut shaming than any type of virgin shaming, I do not think either of those really cover the issue.
Shaming of sexuality is the issue. How is it any of my business whether you've slept with no women or thousands of women? It's not.
Virginity is not shameful nor is it something to be celebrated.
Being sexually active is not shameful nor is it something to be celebrated.
So long as nobody is being hurt in either situation, do what you want. Your sexuality is none of my business.1 4 0 1Nailed it. This response comming from a women makes me feel so much secure about myself 🙂 Slut-shaming and Virgin-shaming should be rid of this world!
since when is sl*t shaming considered the worst thing? you mean the handful of libfems-who are smart enough to know a woman shouldn't be shamed for sex but stupid enough to still use a slur to make the distinction between her and another woman-yelling about it? women are shamed, killed, and raped for having ''too much'' sex on the daily. men get called losers for not having sex. not really equal pain is it.
3 0 0 3Sorry but killed and raped for having too much sex? Where does that happen?
everywhere. look at the santa barbara guy. the ''blonde sl*ts'' were killed for not fucking him, but being ''sl*ts'' with other men. what about all the girls that get blamed for their rapes because people think saying yes to some men means you deserve it and are asking for it
Firstly no one is asking for rape and just because some psycho does it doesn't make it a norm. Shit happens in life for both men and women, no one is more "worse off" than the other
Virginity is just a made up thing, nowadays if you haven't had sex by the age 16+ you're frigid or weird. Which is ridiculous because there is nothing wrong with not having sex like its really not that big of a deal and people act like their world is going to end if they do/don't have sex by the time they leave high school. Being a "virgin" is like finding a unicorn
0 1 0 1It's not okay. I think it's more common among men though. For some reason some guys gain a sense of confidence because of how many girls they've slept with. I've heard many guys making fun of other men or boys because they haven't had sex or haven't had as many partners as them

18 13I've never seen women or anyone for that matter shaming male virgins in real life. Perhaps on the internet but lots of people get shamed on the internet over MANY different things.
0 0 0 0I've literally never heard a girl shaming a guy for being a virgin. But I've heard (and read) tons of guys slut shame girls.
I don't really think these issues are on the same level.2 2 0 1But yeah, any shaming of any kind is bad ofc. I just think the comparison was a bit clumsy.
There aren't so many virgin guys and they are most of the time in hiding.
In a cave?
It's not ok, there's nothing wrong with being a virgin. It's a good thing, I would rather a virgin than a man whore
1 2 0 0Who actually sits there and virgin-shames dudes? I have yet to see this happen in real life.
1 1 0 1because girls don't do it.its within guys
Ah, I see. I didn't know guys really did that.
"Haha, look at that loser, must be a virgin" "This virgin freak tried to ask me out today, what a loser" This has been heard a million times from girls.
Shaming's never ok anyway, but seriously, if people talk about their sex lives, there will be others talking about it soon after... I would never talk about anything that personal and private to anybody else than the very person involved in it (which would be my wife).
