I think one of the big driving factors is that although men will marry a woman for personality if she fits his physical attraction preference, sex is placed higher because when it comes to dating women, men have a narrow window to make a move and their interest known.

Unfortunately sex is the key to get a higher level of investment from a woman that they are interested. Sure dates are great, trying to make a move is another story. A kiss is intimate, but nowhere near the level of sex because that is the most intimate act two people can share with one another. If a woman has sex with a man, in theory she accepts him as a whole for who is and what he brings into her life. She offers her whole being to him as a sign of trust and vulnerability. Sex also increases the level of bonding potential and investment and interest.

Anything less than that is nowhere near the level of investment and is a higher chance of fizzling out befire anything more can happen compared to it. That is why I think guys prioritize sex more at first when it comes to being with a woman, if not just to get a quick one out and fill a temporary desire or need.

If I'm marrying a woman, it's about the whole package because I'll only marry one person in my life. So it's looks, sexuality, personality, values, etc.

I do have to say, though, that sex is a necessary factor. It's not a matter of sex OR personality. A good personality doesn't make up for lack of sexuality and great sex doesn't make up for an undesirable personality.

Her personality/morals/ past decisions do matter more than having sex with her early. The problem is that the majority of women have bad morals, incompatible long term life goals, and an unacceptable past. At least in my experience that is how it is. I live in liberal CA though, so it is highly unlikely to ever find an actual GOOD person here for a LTR.
