Why is that when women express their sexuality, it's considered empowering, but when men do it, it's considered pervy and inappropriate?

It's like, when the vagina was freed, the dick got oppressed, what has feminism come to?

  • Such a great question. I've never heard it asked in that manner. As I thought about an answer, I scrolled through the other responses. A few people expressed really good thoughts.

I LOVE women's liberation. But you make a good point that women can show off their bodies and be as sexy as they want, but men who do so are considered by society in general to be pervy.

Could part of that have to do with the difference in male and female form? The female form is admired by both men and women. As an art subject, it is fascinating, captivating and pleasing to the eye. I won't get into what make great art great. But the female form encapsulates great art.

The ideal male form is equally pleasing, particularly to women, as opposed to both men and women, but it is less interesting.

The difference is, women have breasts that are considered to be erotic. Men can reveal every inch of their body except for their genitals and not be considered pornographic. Women who want to express their sexuality need to cover their breasts as well as their genitals in public. Even then, covered or partially covered breasts and backsides are erotic. In fact, the sexiness of the curvy female form is apparent even when no skin is visible. With a fully dressed man, there is little to see.

That brings me to my point. A nearly nude male isn't viewed in the same way as a partially nude female. The ideal male form is considered attractive, even alluring, but not erotic. People are used to it. The only taboo is his genitals. And flashing his genitals to people who don't request it is considered lewd. It's akin to a woman spreading her pussy.

When it comes to behavior, there is also a difference between the two sexes. Women can dress provocatively in revealing or enticing clothing. Men who wear revealing clothes are just icky. At most, they can show off their builds by wearing tight T-shirts and Levis. But suits are also strangely sexy. Men who act suave, debonair, calm, confident and witty; who don't act needy and who have a good sense of humor are sexy. They have to intrigue and entice a woman. It's a courtship dance. If he comes off too strong, is threatening or lewd, or seems dishonest, smarmy or insecure, he will meet a lot of rejection. There is no rule that says women have to humor every guy who approaches them. Guys get to decide who they find attractive and women have the same right.

So I'm not sure that the dick got oppressed. 1) women simply gained more empowerment to choose what dicks they wanted and 2) a lot of men never learned what women are looking for.

  • I think we've generally pandered to women to some extent. Technology has just magnified it. Ideas of "sexual liberation" became malformed and cancerous.
Now we've got these disproportionately powerful women who are treated as disproportionately weak in society and are hence catered to even more.

If an otherwise set for life women is even merely *bothered* by a guy who's looking for a connection, he can get shit on if she's in the wrong mood. And it's considered his fault for not knowing better. It's like "Look, that guy is lonely and lost! Step on his neck!"

    • edit *we've (always) generally Also, thanks for MHO

  • Because in the modern days, women expressing their sexuality is seen as the outcome of a sex-positive revolution that was 'liberating'.

A guy expressing his sexuality is often associated with unsolicited lewd actions, like someone flashing his junk to middle school girls, or someone sending a dick pic, a man catcalling, or even groping and harassing a woman. It is associated with things that are not welcomed by any decent human being.

    • Yes, i don't mind women expressing their sexuality, but i have seen women talking about dicks and it's deemed totally fine, though when men talk about pussy, they are considered disgusting animals.

    • Because they are associated with different things despite being the same.

    • Who makes that association though? *You* Why is *your* association the one that defines everyone else's? Like most guys, I don't make those associations. But for some reason men's perception of the world is quiet, while yours is held up as right. You don't decide other people's associations.

  • Because a lot of times men use their sexuality to oppress women. When it’s not being used that way men’s sexuality can be very intoxicating.

    • That is a atrong generalization

  • Lots of things aren't fair. Men and women are different, and no amount of forced equality is going to make everything fair and equal. Women lose on some aspects, and this is one of many that men lose on. Overall, we ARE pretty balanced, but many issues are skewed to favor one sex or the other.

  • Feminism sought to hurt men and free women from responsibility. The only way they can do that however is by framing everything as a victim/oppressor narrative where men are oppressors and women victims no matter what the scenario is. That's why they freed women of the responsibility to control their libido (and by the way, men where expected to do so as well), it then had to punish men because if men and women can do this then their is no more oppressor right? I mean we would be equal in this regard and their is nothing left to fight for but if when men do something its evil then they have an enemy to fight and a means to take ever more power. This is also why they fought for women to have the right to abort yet also fought to ensure that men had to pay child support even though this is again, free women of responsibility while using the same argument to punish men (after all if women can walk away from parenthood why can't men? Because it doesn't benefit women for him to have that right so they made sure they took it away). This is feminism in a nut shell.

  • It's not pervy. It's only pervy when he's doing something sexual to someone who clearly doesn't want it, isn't of age, etc. Women USUALLY are sexual within themselves and don't throw themselves to people who don't want them (of course there are exceptions to everything). Plus women were shamed for so long about being sexual so now they feel like they can be free and open about it and not act like it's some taboo; men never had this problem.

    • "men never had this problem."
... except now, hence the question.
And it's not a new attitude... so yes, they kind of always had this problem.

Why is that when women express their sexuality, it's considered empowering, but when men do it, it's considered pervy and inappropriate?

  • Men are getting "slut-shamed" in different way, by being seen as a predators.

  • It's an interesting question.

  • female expression of sexuality... wearing a short skirt
male expression... looking up her skirt without asking and trying to get a picture to put on the internet

the incel crowd your question attracted can deny it all they want but this simple explaination illustrates the difference perfectly

    • what does Wearing a short skirt have to do with sexuality anyways? what i have seen is women talk about dicks but when a man talks about pussy he is a weird disgusting pirce of shit, and if you are denying it then u must be living under a rock.

    • i gave you one simple analogy to demonstrate the point if you want a full conversation im up for that but telling me i live under a rock suggests you are either struggling with civility or you are the male troll many here accuse you of being

  • Male sexuality is more threatening, as men are more able to take what they want by force.

  • Double standards are strong in the world.

  • The masses are oblivious to the fact that feminism didn’t achieve equality, feminism merely reversed the gender roles. Hence all the double standards.

That’s why women are expected to act more “butch” while men are expected to act more “vulnerable”. It’s feminist hypocrisy.

  • Cause majority of men come off as creepy desperate fucks. Just looo at how creepy most guys on Gag act. They are so desperate they come off as creepy

  • Preach sister! I'd love to share my sexuality with others, but the damn cops...

  • Feminism isn't what it claims to be. On it's face it's just a movement to better women's lot in life. But in actuality it is part of a much larger and very sinister neo Marxist movement. Marxism went from rich vs poor to oppressor vs oppressed. It's the same ideology of class struggle but it was re-branded because of it's bad optics to cover up what it actually was. Of course it produces the same results. What we're calling feminists are young women indoctrinated with a Marxist ideology of communist revolution. They aren't taught about making women's lives better , they're taught to be revolutionaries. By the time the Marxists get done with them a lot of these women are filled with hate and even murderous rage. This video is a good example of what so called feminism is teaching young women. https://hooktube.com/watch?v=NbNazLv_W4k

  • It's this asinine attitude that so many people have that women's sexual behavior is rarely inappropriate... Women are making up for lost time, I guess?

  • because OBVIOUSLY women are suppressed in this white male supremacist society, am i right?

    • I don't live in your "white supremacist" society lol, but i have seen many oppression against men in the west, well, guess it's karma for what your ancestors did to the world 😅

    • i was obviously joking xD no idea what society you're in but i would still say that in most societies, female promisquity is not only encouraged but also slut-shamed. so there's pretty much both sides to it. same goes for male promisquity. there's not so much of a stigma to it but then again most women don't want a guy who fucks around.

  • This is why feminism is cancer.

  • Feminists, simps, and sissyboys are partly to blame for that.

  • Its true. Women can Express themselves sexually because men want sex and would not be offended and most times willing to please a woman. Men on the other hand want sex and women get offended if a man expresses it. Women have the choice usually and men dont.

    • So it's all about the D after all?😅

    • Its a womans world sexually. Period. Men abused it for so long. So men approaching women for sex is not sexy. Lol

    • So you are saying men should just sit while women lure them? hasn't it always been like that?

  • Yeah, I'm glad you see the fuckery.
But I do it in a way that's not creepy to anyone, i. e with confidence. lol

  • Yes. That is the other side of this hypocrisy that goes on.

  • Not sure. But i prefer to express my sexuality.
