Why isn't sex education valued in America?

This reminds me of a question I saw the other day from a woman in her 20's who asked if it was possable for a 35 year old guy to get her pregnant. (She thought that because of his age, he probably could not and it was safe to have sex with him without birth control). I have a cousin who is 13 and she doesn't speak English. Sometimes I translate a few of these questions to her that are supposedly from men and women in their 30's and 40's. She can not believe that these people are asking such simple questions at their age. I am not saying that she is experienced, my point it that she learned these things in school. Also, I have noticed that apparently the sex lives of americans seem to be very plain and boring. If you comment to a question and mention that you do anything even slightly out of their norm, the haters will call you a troll and make rude remarks. Apparently, any sexual act or position other than church-approved missionary style and perhaps doggie-style only happens in porn movies. Any mention of having "friends-with-benefits" instead of sex with strangers also brings out the haters. In my country, it is common for teenage girls who are sexually active and not in a relationship to have one or more friends-with-benefits that they know and trust. Personally, I think that is a safer option than having sex with random guys that you barely know. Another common thing I keep hearing from American girls is "I don't get what the big deal is with sex. It lasts about 5 minutes and I don't get anything out of it". These guys don't realize that if they would stop being so selfish and instead spend some time taking care of her needs, she might want to have sex again. They also don't realize that girls talk to each other about things like that and soon this guy will have a reputation as a dud, sexually. Then they wonder why they are being rejected so much. Americans can't put all the blame on the poor sex education in their schools. Sex education is available on the internet for free.
Yes, they are ignorant over there in the states. They're lousy at geography too. Most of them probably wouldn't even recognise the map you posted, thinking it was the Middle East or something.
Heh, you do know why there's that little disclaimer about Louisiana not giving false information, right? In Cali it would be to have integrity to scientific evidence, one thing I've got to give them. Here it would be "well now, you can have unprotected sex with no consequences! That's why we have shotgun marriage!" lol
Sex-ed laws are outdated with the internet. Most kids know what a bukkake is before realizing sperm fertilizes an egg now. I could get it when information and access to it was more restricted, like the town library and what books you donate to it. They want to wait until their kids are "ready"(really until they are ready to explain something awkward). That doesn't hold up so well now when not just information delivery has changed, but demographics with it.

I like to consider myself pretty diverse and having had a lot of experience sexually, mostly from relationships. Still and all, I have no clue what it's like to be trans or a lesbian. That dice roll is more likely the younger someone is. Anyway, it leads to a conclusion that even teaching my kids about sex may not be adequate. As what I'd teach is mostly where babies come from, and using condoms for STDs, birth control if you don't want babies. Completely irrelevant lesson if they're lesbian, I don't know how to use a dental dam.
Anyway, sex ed doesn't have to encompass the entire rainbow coalition, but those resources do have to be available away from home, even if it is a private group that simply offers to talk to confused kids. I know my parents explained the basics of sex to me, next step was figuring out how this sex thing felt in practice with real women. I was just lucky that I got taught about STDs before I had any opportunities there.
It meant I knew what I had at any given time, oh!
Over the years, conservatives have been opposed to any sex education, other than scare tactics about pregnancy and STDs, with an emphasis on abstention. They think it's a parent's place to educate their children about sex. Naturally, those kinds of parents are probably really bad at it.
But recently, Democrats have been introducing sex ed in the curriculum of even very young children, with an emphasis on teaching children to question their genders. They don't so much teach about PIV, but about things that appeal to homosexuals like blow jobs and anal sex. They even have flamboyant transvestites teaching the joys of cross dressing and transgenderism.
So things went from fucked up to FUBAR.
Kids need sex Ed. to know how the male and female bodies function. Sex Ed. is not about psychological issues. It's purely about anatomy and physiology.
@NoManTwo they need more than thst, they need to know about contraception, how to on a condom, about risks to latex from oils, about STD’s, about anal sex, about masturbation, all the things adults do but never tell their children about, which means they make the same mistakes.
@ChrisMaster69. Grade school children don't need to know any of that shit. In middle school, they should learn about sex - male and female anatomy, pregnancy, STDs, condoms and other birth control methods, etc. But why would they need to be taught about masturbation and anal sex?

I dunno, america is pretty conservative and stupid
I believe this is the standard approach to sex in the USA. I do confess I googled Ostrich with its head shoved up its arse, but kept getting Images of Blue Anon Virgins.
Well I think it is it just depends on the teacher you know those hookers cost quite a bit to teach you. a hooker the prostitute I forget which one's higher or lower in price, but there is a value the guys have to pay to learn something
Not sure I had many sex ed classes in school throughout the years but I still ended up pregnant as a teen so I don't think they helped.
This is America, education isn’t valued here.
Extremely religious and conservatists people, preventing it.
The south has many states that do require it so I don't get the logic?
people who are religious and conservatist are controlling the education system to get sex education from the curriculum, for any backwards reasoning.
Conservatism means more than just voting for the republican party.
A decade ago I think my state tought me the tale of the birds and the bees pretty well.
Though, I reckon if it's undervalued is because a lot about sex Ed can be found out online and probably not from the most reliable sources.
education in america isn't the best in general terms... its why one in five can't read and write properly so poor sex ed is just another symptom of that
This is a very good question. But the answer I came up with is that education in general in the USA is very poor. They’re not taking the time to educate. I don’t know why. But I had a online friend of my son threatening to kill her self because she thought she was pregnant. She was from the United States. After talking to her and calming her down I realized that she didn’t understand How sex worked... she thought because the guy bumped into her in the halway she was pregnant... she was 16 years old.
Only in some states. Red states, not so much.
*sees my state* oh lol
I don't know it's just "weird" to talk about that a conversation between kids and adults.
Number one, Parents aren't giving any sex education guidance to their kids.
Number two. Parents won't allow any "True Realistic" Sex Education in the schools.
Probably because that would require people to take an honest look at themselves and acknowledge the distinct possibility that they have some unhealthy views on sex.
Mandated doesn't mean they give proper sex Ed lol.
And I dint think in many parts of the world they give sex Ed
Well if you think the world is flat and only 6000 years old, then your knowledge of sex will likely be a little off too. I mean a lot of these weird beliefs come of the USA. So if science education is wanting, then I wouldn't expect sex education to be top grade either. I don't think education period is valued that much in the U. S.
Because there are groups that avidly believe that talking about sex will make their children want sex and sex is evil until you're married, but then you should have all the sex, but only for making babies
Much of America has weird religious values that are considered barbaric by today’s standards...
I'm really going to need some examples, at least one. Are American guys asking you where babies come from?
Yeah they come from Walmart 🤣
That's because sex Ed has been cut from most of the school districts just like auto mechanics, electric, construction, home ec
