Why are lesbian more tolerated then gays (guys)?

first of all, I'm not trying to troll or be rude now don't get me wrong, they are both not accepted in our society, unfortunately; but I just noticed that people in our society have a little more tolerant for lesbians then gay guys themselves. most of the time in high schools, lesbian chicks are always the popular once and everybody seems to suck up to them more, in other words, there less likely to be outcast (opposed to gay guys). well I don't see this just in high school but in other places like work, college, etc. is like what advantage do lesbians have over actual gay guys?

To understand this, you must see it from a douchebag guy perspective. Alpha jerk guy bullies will target male gays because they are easy targets. They're already outcasts so it makes it that much easier to pick on them. Not to mention the general male populus doesn't like gay guys for one reason or another. Maybe it's because they can talk to the ladies so much more easily than they or they consider sodomy disgusting and therefore associate gay guys with it naturally. Then there's the feminine side of them which makes a lot of stereotypical gays come off as wusses.

Lesbians on the other hand don't seem to come off an different than normal girls despite their sexual abnormality. A lot of guys get a turn on from two girls being together, maybe moreso than heterosexual couples because they are only viewing females, they aren't attracted to males. So while they will always reject gay guys for the various reasons, they'll more than likely accept the lesbians because of the turn on. Unless the lesbian is a manlike lesbian which they'll probably reject also.The truth is Gay guys will be more accepted by the women and gay girls will be more accepted than the men.

Its locker room rules basically. I'm in high school, and if there is one thing that guys aren't supposed to do, its "be gay". now this doesn't mean ACTUALLY gay, but you shouldn't touch, hug or do anything else but make eye contact with another guy. Also, if you are whistling, singing and sometimes reading an unpopular book, you can be called: "gay". I was reading a book based off of a video game, and it was good, but some douche thought it was stupid and said: "Wow, you read videogame books, what a f**!"

Its just that people find too men attracted to each other weird, but because girls don't have "boundaries" (they hug, kiss, and undress in front of each other) its seen as okay.

I agree with crookthings, lesbians are more tolerated because they are seen as entertainment for men. Women who aren't lesbian often kiss each other to get the attention of men, which is why REAL lesbianism is not taken seriously. Whereas gay men are not tolerated(by men anyway) because they(like said) are not "manly" or they are too "feminine". Also that some men may think that the gay men might look at them a certain way, thus leading the man to punch the gay man or attack him. Not only this, but some straight men fear having "gay thoughts."

This is the world we live in.

#1. Lesbians are turn-ons for a lot of guys. I've known guys who think homosexuality is a sin, but two girls kissing is totally hot. So lesbians are accepted, but on the condition that they're catering to what guys find sexy.

#2. Gay guys are typically stereotyped as more feminine than straight guys (even if it's not to the extreme - flamboyant), and being feminine is apparently a terrible thing. From a douchebag perspective, it's a huge blow to be likened to a girl in any way.

Most of western society was created and still is dominated by heterosexual men.

1. Because people use their monotheistic books to justify how terrible and sinful homosexuality and anal sex is. And usually male gay sex involves anal sex.

2. men find women attractive, so 2 girls kissing can be a turn on for many guys, unlike 2 guys..

I have had this conversation with many gay men I know, and I tell them how much farther gay men would get in society if they stopped hitting on straight men. I do not think gay women really hit on women they know who are straight, where gay men do. If they were romantically interested, fine, but usually it is more to get a rise out of those straight men. So, if they stopped making straight guys feel like they are giving off gay vibe, it would be a start.

this is so damn true. not to mention that we men are more aggressively homophobic than women. and gay guys seem to forget about this. they could really start off being remembering this before hitting on a straight guy
