Why people have sex with multiple partners when there is a chance of getting a STD?

Why do people cheat on their partners when there is a possibility of getting an infection or a disease? Aren't they scared?

We need to differentiate here between having sex with changing partners and cheating.
Cheating could be caused by many things, looking for the thrill, sexually frustrated in the relationship, no strong feelings anymore or just an asshole... Then on the other side you can have changing partners without cheating. I can't speak for others but when I'm single I make use of my freedom and hookup quite a lot. It comes with risk but risk often also means excitement. Also I like that you never know how it is gonna be, what's the guy like in bed etc
