  • I been wondering the same shit too!

I always noticed that in most witch franchises witches tend to be pretty slutty too. such as always coming out of their clothes and engaging into lesbianism everytime they practice their witchcraft rituals in groups. perfect example of this would be story of MacBeth, Rachel Dyer: A North American Story and that video game Bayonetta.

wizards in the other hand are totally the opposite. they get depicted as virgin losers who lived in the darkness for too long and did nothing but read witchcraft books are their lives. such as Harry Potter

Why witches are associated with sexuality?

to answer the question I think its because associating a character with too much sexuality makes them appear more evil in many ways.

    • why sex is considered eveil... so men agree that heir weak and women who seduce them a re bad

    • maybe that's why. they say a witch cannot control your mind and free will but they will always be pros at influencing you. and if you are a man then obviously won't be so hard for nympho type of women to influence you

  • Weird you picked up on that on witches than all other examples like succubus's, Sirens etc.
But this is how it's always been. The reason is fairly obvious men think women use there looks to deceive which some do. Then of course this gets used to portray mythical evil women using the same tactics.
Your story of a witch in the sense of using her looks to deceive is no different to a very much real story of a Gold-digger that does manipulate and deceive.

Beauty on the outside and ugly on the inner is a common concept that everyone has been aware of since humans started to develop society's.

    • I mean i dont need to go far... ny own boyfriend once told ma after sex:i feel like 21 again it just won't get down... what did you do to me? cast a spell? We laughed and all but still yiu know among all other things he joked about this

  • It starts with the bible, it was eve who led Adam astray and so women have been treat with suspicion ever since. Lacking physical strength or socal power the best way a woman could influence was through sex. Given that men think with their dicks that wouldn't have been too hard. However this gets twisted into the idea that magic must have been involved. It's not an idea that's unique to witches, wherever you find a powerful woman in old stories she's using a combination of sex and magic to get her way.

  • It's more about literature (well, media in general) than history; the idea is that a person who will buck the trend of social expectation in one area will buck it in multiple. This is true, but it tends to be within more specific categories than "if s/he'll do that, s/he'll do anything".

  • Power and fear of that power.

    • What power

    • Do you not think that sex holds power? Back when accusing woman of witchcraft they would use anything against her in order to be rid of them. “She is from the devil. She manipulates churchgoing men from their wives.”

    • I dont tbink sex is so powerful Its so basic and normal

  • Hot witch trope, it actually an older than you think trope, you can google it.

  • Probably because witches like riding broomsticks.

    • lmao

  • While living up North and very close to Salem, Massachusetts, I had a conversation with a group of witches who said that a significant number of women become witches to seek revenge on there husbands. While there I met a Methodist minister who said a good number of them are Christian. As far a the sexual nature associated with witches. I think you have to investigate the many stories of Creation, Lilith, Adam and Eve.

  • i think the entire "being a which" thing comes from female masturbation. this entire riding a broom thing.

    • in my culture she flies in a wooden big bucket an uses broom to guide her way

  • Didn't know they were.
    Guess I missed that memo...
