Likely it's one or more of the following:

• He's starting to catch feelings (It's less common, but it does happen sometimes).
• He's developed feelings for another girl and wants to purse that.
• He doesn't have enough free time for himself, and this is the easiest thing to cut if something has to go.
• If seeing you regularly comes with a sizable cost (in time, gas money, bridge tolls, parking costs, meals, entertainment, etc.) then maybe he is having trouble sustaining those expenses, especially with inflation.

It sounds like most of it is the first one, but it still may be a combination of 2 or more of these.

Hard to say. Maybe he wants more from you than he thinks you’re willing to give, like a real relationship? Maybe he’s seeing someone else and has a guilty conscience? Maybe he just doesn’t want to have sex with you anymore and thinks an excuse that blames himself will be kinder to your feelings? Unless he comes clean, you’ll probably never know.
