Why would someone view sex as "conquering" them?

I'm a psych major and I was curious my friend made an odd statements the other day.. She said saw sex as conquering them and I was curious as to why this might be considering most people become closer. Anyone else feel the same and if so why? 🎭 🎭 🎭

  • I had a similar mentality in my teens when I was often limited to hook-ups (quickly changed my unhealthy attitude after my first real girlfriend). There was a skill involved that I had to develop to charm women at parties enough that they'd want to sleep with me (in my case I did it without ever lying to or pressuring them, which added to the challenge of being as straightforward but as charming as possible), and that development of skill accompanied by the reward of women accompanying me to the bedroom felt like an accomplishment of sorts that took hard work and skill.

    • But "conquest" is a sort of image that might be present in competitive types of people. I'm a highly competitive type so I related all the things I worked to accomplish whether it was acing exams, winning gold medals in sports, beating my friends at a game, or anything else as a type of "conquest" favoring the metaphor of conquering new territories. The warlord metaphor appealed to me a lot visually and gave me the motivation to work harder and outdo my former self, learn new things, accomplish new goals.

    • Thanks for your input.. Do u card if i send a pm?

    • Cheers! No problem.

  • That seems unusual for a woman to say, normally the kind of thing you hear a guy say, like its an achievement, like climbing a challenging mountain. I know some people see sex with a particular person as a challenge to conquer, not everyone is in to sex for love and intimacy.
