if i had a daughter and she reached legal age and capability to choose her own life... my job is done... whether i like who she's with or not or whether that person is a friend or not... that decision is still her choice

as a parent myself, if we wrap our kids in cotton wool all their lives and make their life choices for them we actually push them away... and at 22, or rather from 18 they are of legal age to vote here in the UK so technically whose right is it to tell someone who can make choices for themselves choose who they fall for
if we all did this it would be more like dictatorship parenting
and they'll never learn or be truly happy that way and will never evolve to become the people they could potentially be

Yes I would mind. There's a large age gap and involves close relations with two people that you are close to, and things could get complicated for you if things between them get messy.
It's really a tough thought someone having sex with my daughter to start with, let alone a friend of mine.

Though they are both adults and given their intentions are good, who am I to stop them.

Of course I'd mind. I'd just take my friend out shopping for snare traps and make sure he understand his nuts are going on the trigger one way or the other if he hurts my girl.

Telling a 22 year old who not to sleep with just makes them twice as likely to do so. At least you can make sure they get let down gently or do the dumping.

That's just weird on so many levels. I'm not that old yet but any friend I have should be like an uncle to my daughter, even if she's an adult it still feels really wrong for something like that to happen.
However there are always special cases, a reason behind it, genuine feelings. I am mature enough to accept a convincing story.

That would be a little weird, and I'd prefer her to have a relationship with someone closer to her age.

I would first yell at my "friend" and tell him to stop immediatley or we aren't friends anymore. If it wouldn't work, I would forbidd my daughter to see him.

As long as they take reasonable precautions, why not? Older men often take longer to finish, so she may enjoy it more.

Yes. A 50yr old stranger maybe different. But a friend. Apart from fact they would have seen her grow up as a child, which would be rather creepy for them to then hook up with her, i'd see it as a betrayal by my friend
