I recently slept with a guy and while we were fooling around he put it inside me without a condom. I stopped him and told him to put one on. But why did he risk it? Would you risk it with a hook up just because it felt good?

It's a risk-reward situation. If the guy at the time feels like you are low risk (based on intuition only), he may take the risk. Now, the guy is probably evaluating risk to him only, so if he is prepared to take a risk, sure doesn't mean the lass should too.

For hookups I either do anal or pull out to avoid the false sense of security condoms give for mitigating pregnancy risks. As for STDs I try to just get a sense of how trustworthy a girl is. But I do suppose I've just been lucky so far..

STDs can also be transmitted without penetration by the way. So fooling around or rubbing it on the outside won't keep you protected.
