  • I believe that at a whole it’s true that they don’t but it’s important to look across the aisle and see what exactly brings about those accusations. What concerns the other side and why are so adamant in their opposition. You can choose to see the situation in binary terms if you like “I’m good and pure they’re just evil and hateful” but that won’t solve anything and will only drive you opposition to harden their resolve and dash and hope of harmony as a people.

    In that spirit I would like to speak on what I believe may be giving them the impression that conversion and perversion in the goal of the LGBT+ community. The most obvious being the presence and cooperation of children in highly sexualized events, pride parades with people in fetish gear approaching children, a young boy in drag dancing provocatively and being paid for it, drag queen story hour with registered sex offenders, these things lend legitimacy to those accusations.

    Combating that and insisting that the movement as a whole is a civil and moral one means having a community that isn’t afraid to police and denounce itself in my opinion. I may receive backlash for this but I would like you all to know that I do say this in the legitimate effort to help. The LGBT+ is not a perfect good and there are people who have very real and understandable concerns with it. Addressing those concerns and finding common ground will lead to progress and cooler heads. It seems like the movement is trying to go so fast and so aggressively that it’s outrunning it’s own support and allowing insidious actors to attach themselves to it and that’s very unfortunate as it’s core message is true.

  • Is it even possible to legitimately convert into or out of homosexuality? I thought you either are or are not. It ultimately doesn't matter what consenting adults do behind closed doors and then keep private afterwards. Those standards are not unreasonable for any sexuality. The problems start when any of those factors are changed.

  • That’s not true. The lgbtq community is trying to convert your opinion of the lgbtq community. To make people more open minded. It’s a pointless fight since those that are so closed off to the idea will never convert and therefore always be haters.

    • Is there any way an agreement can be reached between people in the community and not in the community that public displays just to rub it in someone's face aren't helpful? Especially if it can even theoretically be viewed by minors? I don't think there are many people who truly hate based on sexuality, I think there are a lot of people who hate public display of sexuality. How Quickly would the community Get violently angry if there were such a thing as straight pride? I'm assuming it would be tolerated by the community as well as any kind of nationalism event. Happy to have a conversation if you are willing to be frank and honest.
