It depends on which friend it is. Any of them can go naked. I wouldn't mind that; but it depends on how close I am with them for them to see me nude.

Well we obviously wear swimsuits when the opposite gender is in at the same time. Apart from that it's totally up to the individual to choose what he/she wants to wear. But I personally have bad experiences with swimwear + sauna. I had some nasty skin irritation from them once and never wore them to sauna ever after. I like to take reaally hot saunas from long duration so they obviously they'd become as hot as a stove.

Also it would be normal when with others to wear swim wear unless they are all comfortable being somewhat nude. A decision for all the people involved.

Yes- nudity doesn't imply sexual. Also, sitting on a towel in a sauna takes care of any hygine worries if you were to go nude.
Towels are absorbant which means any residue will now be in my towel a lovely breeding ground for any bacteria. So if I were doing as most do sitting in then leaving with that towel wrapped around me changing the environment will effect the bacterial growth. More than likely increase it. All I'm saying is sometimes much as we're all learning now, safety and health first

The gym I go to before covid19 I alwaysed finished bin the sauna. This was late night , I went in all I had on was a towel, on a few times I was presented with 3 women naked , one said I hope you don't mind but you have to be naked to do it right. So I ditched the towel. The ladies just smiled...
Yeah in a public sauna I always go with a towel. That way I have the option to cover if I get the vibe that I should or everyone else is, but can be nude if its empty or others are nude. At home, I'd rather not be wrapped in a towel the whole time if I can't be uncovered, so I'll wear a swim brief in those cases so more of me can breathe than I would be wrapped in a towel.
