Why I've Decided To Leave My Pubes Alone

Why I've Decided To Leave My Pubes Alone

It's tough being a woman in your 20s, especially when in comes to the infamous battle with pubic hair. Oh, how I envy those women with little hair, who are unaware of this ghastly "shaving rash" and "ingrown hairs." I, for one, am not so fortunate. No, i was born hairy. My pubic hair is visible outside most bikini bottoms, grows down the sides and even, sparsely, down my crack. (News flash, most women have hairy butts. If your women shaves it, consider yourself lucky.)

My whole life has been a struggle. Shaving gives me ingrown hairs and razor burn that lasts weeks. I am so not doing that, sorry. Hair removal cream? Ditto. Waxing gives me ingrowns as well, and hurts like no one's buisess. Lazer hair removal? I'm in University- do you think i have that much money (or confidence?) Basically, i am a hairy girl who struggles, very much, to remove my pubes. And this has ALWAYS been really embarrassing, and a huge concern of mine. Because now it's attractive to go bare down there. That's what most guys apparently want. Well sorry, boys, i am putting down my foot (and razor) and i am saying NO!

We have hair down there for a reason. God knows i have no idea what the reason actually is, but who am i to question the creation of the human body? Everyone has it, deal with it. It's natural, it's normal, it's staying.

Is it really that unnatractive? Honestly. Compared to ingrown hairs, pimples, bumps, rashes and stubble, and some hair? I'd pick the hair any day. Not all of us ladies (and gents) are lucky enough to go smooth and bare no worries, a lot of us actually end up looking a lot worse than we did to start.

It's a pain in the ass (pun indended). It hurts. It takes a long time. It itches. It costs money. It grows back instantly. I have spent countless hours on the interent googling ways to get rid of shaving rash, how to remove hair for sensitive skin- you name it, it's in my history. Surely i have better things to do with my time than obsess over what a man is going to think when he see's my hairy vagina?!

Do i really want a man who cares? Call me a hopeless romantic, but i want a guy who doesn't care if i'm hairy! And surely, when my soulmate saunters into my life, he really won't care less? And at the end of the day, if he DOES care, then he clearly isn't that great of a guy, and i dont want him in my life (or anywhere near my lady bits.)

I am a WOMAN! I will not be dictated by society, or what men find attractive. I will do with my pubes whatever i want. And i am leaving them be. Sure, i'll get out the scissors and trim down a bit, but the rest is staying. I'm sorry if you can see them when i'm in a bikini. I'm sorry if when we're in bed, your turned off by my hairy crack and inside my thighs. If you can remove the hair, adn WANT to, then LUCKY YOU! Go for it!

But i am done, and i encourage women like me to embrace the hair too!

I am hairy, and I am proud.

  • I support your MyTake i do like females with pubic hair
i can't get turned on by bald vagina's but this is my preference
the preference of other men and what they like is theirs not of mine
but i never want a woman to feel embarrassed cause she doesn't shave

  • I'm hairy and proud as well! I shave "that zone" one time and it was hell! Razor burn, ingrown hair, and I was like "how the actually fuck can women do this?". From that point on I was sure I'd be cool with a girl being hairy down there. Good luck!

  • I think this is great. I admire you for freeing yourself from the people who make it seem like you HAVE to be bare down there. It should be the girl's choice, and I respect your choice.

    • Haha thankyou :)

  • No. Just no lol. This isn't the 70's girl ain't nobody tryna see a lions mane on a vagina anymore lol. Do you tho!

    • Couldn't agree more

    • Correction: women had pubic hair not only in the 70's, but for centuries, milleniums. Shaving is just a few decades lasting trend.

  • I say grow that bush

  • I also have the same point of view. I have actually never used a razor or a wax strip down there. I just hate that idea. I prefer in keeping a bush as I find it comfortable. I trim with scissors only in summer months and I wear boyshorts so nothing will be seen even if I wear a skirt.

    • Thats sooo sexy on a woman tbh keep the bush 😍😍😍

  • I like the look and feel of pubic hair, including nuzzling it during oral. The "plate" I most like to "eat" off if is a cleanly edged bikini trim with an inch of growth within the suit line. I see this as feminine, modest, mature and sexy. And if she is forested around back, just trim it for the beach. Don't let yourself be bullied into an underage look.

  • "I'm sorry if you can see them when i'm in a bikini."

Umm... have you ever seen this before or do you want to be the first woman to do that?

    • Really not. Saw it multiple times on my last holiday. And it turned me on.

  • Don't shave then. Just get an electric trimmer and trim it to the minimum.

  • Hey, any guy who is lucky enough to get that far with a girl shouldn't complain about if she is hairy or not anywhere on her body. People need to stop being so judgmental. If someone takes the time of day to expose themselves in front of you, appreciate the strength that takes because it's extremely hard to get any more exposed than that.

Good for you. I'm sure you'll save lots of time and potential cuts and scabs by stopping the shaving. I'm sure whoever dates you will appreciate you for whatever you look like down there or anywhere for that matter. And if they don't, they weren't worth your time in the first place anyways.

  • I shave the under arms and genital area because it makes me comfortable and keeps me cleaner. I'll use NAIR on my calfs and arms because I like it for myself. Makes me feel more attractive personally and the smooth feeling is grreaaattt.

And the eyebrow threading is the best thing in the world.

If you don't like doing those things then that's your deal man

    • I'm with you on this. It just really does make you feel cleaner and sexier. The only difference is I've never tried threading for my eyebrows I heard it was pretty painful. I'll just stick to waxing surprisingly it's not that bad. At least when it comes to your eyebrows.

    • Threading is like tweezing eyebrows really fast. The more you do it, the less pain. You get use to it. And the results are fucking fantastic. Waxing is cool but it doesn't work for me xD Try threading at a least once!! What makes it easier to get through is when you have someone who is friendly and talks to you while they do it.

  • This is why you oughta wax instead. I'd do it to myself, but people would stare if they saw me shopping for it.

    • Waxing can be very painful for some women, I honestly understand why some don't do it. I wax and I have a pretty high pain tolerance and it makes me want to cry almost lol

    • Shows how tough you are! :)

    • Says the tough guy who's too scared to even buy the wax because of potential stares.

  • Solution: just trim people. Just like shaving without the complications.

    • It's the windbreaker of person grooming methods! Perfect!

    • personal*

  • welp... it won't be long before it starts looking like Fangorn forest down there.

  • It doesn't have to be smooth skin, buzz cut/trimmed way down is fine.

  • Nobody was holding a gun to your head, and nobody cares.
Do whatever you want with your body hair, literally NOBODY cares.

  • I shave for myself not for men. Although I'm sure my man likes it better shaved. It's just more comfortable. Don't you like soft legs better? & shaves underarms.. & shaved pubes.

    • I agree and respect you're shaving for yourself and not men, that is a good reason to shave :)

  • I'm glad you have the courage to go through with this. I personally couldn't do it. I just feel cleaner and more sexy when I shave the hair, and my boyfriend says he would prefer if I shaved or at least trimmed it. I could see why you woukdn't though. Those ingrown hairs can be pretty nasty. I enjoyed your take.

  • "I am a WOMAN! I will not be dictated by society, or what men find attractive. "

HAHAHA! You're just as much bound to society and what the opposite sex finds attractive as we men are.
