This myTake is a response to 5 Unarguable Reasons Why Prostitutes are A Good Option for the Average Guy

Let me begin by saying I believe prostitution should be legal since I believe in the right to private property.
The person's body is their private property and they may do with it as they please so long as no one is hurt as a result of the person's actions.
I also believe that the government's view of the economy should be summed up as follows:
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving subsidize it.
This is a paraphrased quote by Reagan which I doubt he would approve the use of.
As the world's oldest profession it only makes sense to legalize it and regulate it, especially since it helps fight human trafficking and ensure prostitutes have regular check ups.
The case for getting a prostitute boils down to a few basic points.
1. Sex on demand for anyone willing to pay regardless of their looks and personal failings.
2. Getting any kind of sex the person (or people if it's a couple hiring a prostitute) wants.
And Finally
3. A desire for nothing more than sex.
If sex is all the person cares about then I think them getting a prostitute would be best for them and it would prevent hurting the feelings of others that want something more.
However there are several factors to consider before getting a prostitute.
1. The Cost (in money)
Yup you guessed it, sex doesn't come cheap. In the US the cost can range from $200-$600 on average. There are some that will do it for a lot less and a lot of others that will do it for a lot more.
It is something that can become very addicting and costly.
By having a girlfriend a guy saves a lot more money on average since you don't need to spend money on the girl every time and it is highly unlikely that a middle class guy would spend $200+ on a date. $200 will probably be spent on 6 dates if the guy pays for both himself and the girl and knows how to spend effectively.
2. The Risk (STDs/STIs)
Although prostitutes may claim to be free of any STDs there appears to be no regulation set in place on how often they are tested. From what I could find in my research, once a month tends to be the standard but there's no one to oversee that it happens.
The prostitute you could be with may not have been tested in 2-3 months or could have just caught an STD from a previous client.
3. The Cost (in mental health)
This goes back to the number 1 reason people get prostitutes. In most cases it is because they can't get laid. If a person can't get laid by conventional means then this is their only alternative.
The problem with this is that a person can very easily become addicted.
Now let's say money isn't an issue, the problem then becomes that the person is embracing their flaws instead of working on them. The person becomes more closed off and depressed.
Sex to that person will be no different than alcohol for an alcoholic, since this will be that person's way of dealing with stress, depression or any other issue.
4. The Rejection of Love
Perhaps the person is too lazy to work on themselves and wants just sex. Eventually the person will realize that just sex is not enough. They'll notice their friends getting married, having kids and feel like they want that feeling of belonging. Most people whether they know it yet or not deep down want someone to care for them and for someone to care for. That is something you don't get with a friend. Sure you could have some beers with your buddies, play pool, go hunting or do whatever it is you do with your friends but at the end of the day you all go home. It would be nice if there was someone waiting for you at home. Someone that cares about your well being and supports you.
Someone that is there for you when you're sick or hurt for whom you would gladly return the favour.
That person won't always be your mom or dad.
There you have it an honest look at whether people should pay for sex.
I honestly hope it gets legalized but even if it does most of the issues with it still remain.
At the end of the day it's your choice, so choose wisely.
