It’s okay the way Jews do it when the baby is a week old because it heals fast and they don’t remember it. Plus there is hardly any negative risk associated with the surgery. Some people try to compare it with the completely unnecessary and dangerous FGM procedures that are common in Africa and the Middle East. It’s not the same and many people get boys circumcised for health reasons. In the West it is very common for people to circumcise male babies for non religious reasons as opposed to in the East where pretty much everyone who circumcises their make children does it because they’re a Jew or a Muslim.

I got circumcised when I was 8, it wasn't for religious reasons, I'm neither Jewish nor Muslim, it's for hygienic reasons only, although it was a painful experience given I was old enough to remember, but still I'm now thankful for may parents for cutting me, I like the way my penis looks.

@Sarahr123, for Muslims circumcision is must, it is mostly done soon after birth in hospitals, it is essential due to religion but is medically proved useful. Due to medical and sexual reason, circumcision is preferred by Non Muslims also as you can read comments on the post
