Is bleeding during sex normal?

This has happened to me twice ever. And both times have happened when we've done missionary, but when he goes insanely deep. To the point I gasp when he enters me. It doesn't hurt... well not a bad hurt I guess. But when he pulls out (to either do an new position or oral) I've been bleeding. And his dick has blood on it. This happened today and we had to use baby wipes about three times (after he would do a new position) (we git freaky today and did a ton so) and the first time I had a decent amount of blood. And then it got less. I'm no longer bleeding down there... it just made me feel embarrassed and bad because I wasn't sure why I was bleeding as it normally never happens. And the first time it ever did prior to today was near my period so I assumed thats why. But my period was about two weeks ago... so I was just embarrassed. Does anyone know what happened because I'm not in pain or anything and no longer bleeding

  • Hmm, bleeding during sex can happen for a few normal reasons, so try not to feel too embarrassed! A few possibilities that come to mind:

    - Cervix irritation - If he was going super deep, it's possible he irritated your cervix a bit. That area can be pretty sensitive. Some light bleeding is normal when that happens.

    - Menstrual flux - Sometimes that time of the month can make your lady parts extra sensitive even off your period. A few small bleeds could just be from random flux in hormones.

    - Tissue tearing - Pushing your limits sexually can cause some light tearing like a rug burn almost. But if it bled just a little and stopped on its own, it was probably minor.

As long as the bleeding wasn't heavy or painful, I wouldn't worry too much. Keep an eye and see the doc if it happens a lot or causes real problems. But once in a while is normal, especially with deep or rough play! Just be extra gentle next time until things feel settled again. Nothing to be embarrassed about, girl! We all have our freaky moments haha.

    • Just scared me. And was really embarrassing cause that's something that doesn't happen a lot. And I was just I guess freaking out about it a little bit. Also I couldn't be pregnant could I? That's not ehat the bleeding is since I take birth control right?

    • Girl I totally understand why finding blood would be scary! But really try not to freak yourself out too much about it. The bleeding was definitely not a sign of pregnancy - you're protected by your birth control pills. As long as you take them correctly as prescribed, the failure rate is very low. Some spotting can sometimes occur around your period when on the pill, but since it's been a couple weeks for you, this was just an isolated incident from very deep penetration. Your body is amazing at healing quickly too. I'm sure down there is feeling back to normal by now. Any time bleeding happens, it's understandable to worry a bit. But it seems like everything is fine! Your BC is doing its job, and one little mishap during sex doesn't mean there's cause for real concern. Just enjoy being with your man without guilt or embarrassment. This stuff happens sometimes! Try to put it out of your mind and get back to feeling sexy again. You've got nothing to worry your pretty little head over ♥️

  • Bleeding during sex? It is quite normal since you said your boyfriend is larger there are several possibilities, mine is longer and much thicker than average.

    There are several possibilities :-

Hymen, if you have never had a vaginal birth and he is significantly thicker than your previous partners, then in missionary position depending on the angle and how hard he inserts your hymen may either fold, stretch or tear, if it tears then there will be some blood, usually this will happen only once or twice. It is quite common to happen in pronebone position too.

Vaginal wall micro tears, some will occur even if he is slow with the insert, most of these might feel like a slight burn but would not have blood, some may happen when he starts thrusting even if it is slowly, these tend to be fairly quick healing, usually these tears are 2-3mm long and hairline deep, usually maybe 3-4 might happen but if his is very thick, is curved and he had put more strength for quick and deep insert then the tears would be longer, more of it may occur and some will be deeper to have some blood. If he is thicker and tends to swirl during thrusting especially if it is fast it will happen too. Usually those that you will feel pain are 2-4 inches in, those deeper tend to not hurt. younger girls usually would not tear as much, once a woman is above 30 and closer to 40, she will tear more frequently due to less elasticity of her skin. Some birth control will also affect it.

Vulva area tears, this mainly happens when the woman is not fully aroused and the guy pushes harder into her, it is a fairly common tear that happens when I do a girl in doggy position as mine is thickest at the base and I fully penetrate more in doggy position, these ones will bleed more and will take longer to heal.

Finally if he is a frequently does deep penetration, sometimes it will irritate your cervix.

    • We've been having sex for years. So it's not my hymen. I'm thinking it was from the intense fast penetration. Cause the second he had me on my back he thrust super hard into me... and kept doing that till he pulled out and it was blood. So I think it was that. Cause normally we never go super super hard... it was just yesterday was special and we git carried away.

    • It happens, could also be because he was doing you a while and by the time he changed positions you were beginning to dry out and be less aroused. Where did you feel the hurt? At the opening, between opening and cervix it felt it only deeper?

    • It was actually as soon as we started. We'll second position. We did cowgirl before that for maybe two minutes then we went up stairs where I gave him oral some then we started missionary. And I was wet the entire time... like soaked. And it sorta hurt later in my tummy. But during sorta a slight pain in my tummy and vagina. Nit bad. Just like immediately felt everything so it was just intense

  • Could be multiple factors at play. May be dryness, which causes irritation and can certainly lead to bleeding or spotting during, and after intercourse. Do you use lubricants? If yes, you may want to try a different brand or adding more so you are well adjusted and not dry before entry.
    2. May be due to hormones. If you're on birth control, sometimes spotting does occur when you are switching from your placebo week to medicated week!
    3. If he is going THAT deep, he could potentially be hitting your cervix, which will cause discomfort, pain, and can absolutely cause bleeding if the intimacy is too rough.

Perhaps try different position you both like, or be more gentler when it comes to the actual act of sex.

You should definitely see your gyno too. I had bleeding after and during sex, and I was actually diagnosed with Adenomyosis / Endometriosis, and PCOS. Medical conditions CAN cause bleeding.

Since you mentioned birth control, IS there ANY chance you could be pregnant? Implantation bleeding? Early pregnancy you actually bleed during sex, it's a common indicator!

    • @SallyTho87 May I ask you for some advice please? follow me if itso kay! :)

    • It's definitely not from dryness... I get wet literally the second I see my boyfriend. So I was soaked by the time we started having sex. I am on birth control. But I've been on it for about three or more years now. So would it still cause this? And yeah I was just on my placebo pills just about two weeks ago. And yeah he's on the large side... so when he goes deep it's very deep. Like I can literally feel everything and it is sorta a small pain when he thrust that deep and hard. And I better not be pregnant... cause I've been on the pill for years

    • I'm guessing it's more so the cervix is being hit! That alone can cause inflammation and bleeding. Hopefully you can figure it out! I would highly recommend getting checked out for anything like PCOS, cysts on the ovaries can also contribute to bleeding, and even some pain too. Good luck hun :)

  • It happens. No big deal in my book but ola trip to the gynecologist might be a good idea just to be safe. Good luck! That's what towels are for!

    • We went to the bathroom I think three times to wipe off anything... and honestly I just felt so sad and embarrassed because this was supposed to be a very special day. And i had felt like my bleeding messed it up some. Though it didn't stop us from having sex for an hour and a half and being all over each other. So he didn't seem to mind a shit ton about the blood. I think I may have made it a bigger deal than him

    • I think every one has had period sex at one time. It's not unusual or gross. Just different.
