Is getting a circumcision the right answer in my case?

I have tight foreskin so the skin doesn't pull back when I'm erect. Everything else works it's just the skin that is tight.
It would cost around £1,600 pounds and I'm wondering if anyone has any useful opinions.
Thanks

  • If it works fine and doesn’t hurt, why would you? “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”
Especially when it comes to surgery. Suppose they make a mistake and then your little pal DOESN’T work right anymore. I pee crooked because my circumcision was botched. Bad circumcisions get the same treatment as negative side effects of vaccines. Nobody wants to talk about it. So it happens a lot more often than you think. There’s nothing you can do about it because you always sign a waiver. As long as the doctor isn’t falling down drunk and doesn’t exclaim proudly that he or she intends to ruin your life, you’ll never be able to hold them accountable for a mistake, no matter how severe.
I wouldn’t do it unless i had major dysfunction or pain.

  • If you are saying it in £, does that mean you are in the UK, if so that is a basic health check up and if you say it causes undue pain and or impacts sex, it’s free on NHS. I know a few that had to have it carried out. They don’t mess around, you report it having a physical and or mental impact you get the operation, sorted.

    • But how long is the waiting list for urology in the UK? I'm from NI so it's worse.

    • It’s not the same waiting list. How do you know without even asking? It’s a day patient list, those are really quick. There is no biopsy required. Only your doctor knows, it might also be quicker getting a health centre review, they then submit a letter to your doctor.

    • I think I will make an appointment with the GP and see what they know about the wait and it is true that it has a mental health implication for me. I think regardless, it'll be a long wait (over 6 months)

  • Your condition is called “phimosis” and it can be addessed without needing a circumcision.

You should indeed talk to you urologist and talk about what can be done to help you out. You don’t want a circumcision if you can avoid it.

Remember that a circumcision is a genital mutilation and if not absolutely necessary, avoid it.

    • Unfortunately I have tried the treatment for it and it helped a little but not to what a normal man would be like. I have a lot of scar tissue so I think the only option left is circumcision.

    • If all else fails, the I guess you have to consider this surgery

    • "Gential mutilation" you make it sound like chopping it off. It's not that bad. It's just the removal of skin, everything else stays the same. And it's not an "absolutely necessary" thing easier. It's actually healthier, reduces the risk of infection, improves hygiene, even increases the size a little. And I'm saying this not from any religious point of view but simply a biological one

  • If it's causing serious medical problems, then yes. But go get checked out first to see if there's any other help and options for it. If the only option to fix it because it'd cause issues is circumcision, then you have your answer. Or if any of the other options fail.

  • Maybe- but I'd strongly suggest you try other options first. I know multiple guys who've cured outright phimosis with stretching creams and gauge rings. Far better to give such things a shot than to permanently amputate a functioning and important part of your body, no?

  • There are other less invasive solutions you should try first. They may take more time, but they allow you to keep your foreskin. There's steroid creams, stretching exercises, and foam spacers you can keep in the tip of the foreskin to stretch it.

    • I've done steroid creams for 9 months which is 3 months beyond the guidelines. That is the best treatment and it didn't work. If my foreskin were to go back, my penis would look like a dogs chew toy with scar tissue

  • Try to avoid getting cut if you can. Nobody wants less dick. There are some other methods of stretching that could help solve your issue

    • @apple1996 sounds logical.

    • I have tried the treatments and they just didn't get me to where a normal person is. There's no other treatment I can try before the cut, which I don't want but I also don't want to meet a girl for her to be turned off by a weird penis

    • It's not weird at all. Lots of girls like foreskin

  • Pretty expensive for what it is honestly.

The day I was born the doctor asked my parents if they wanted me circumcised. (We're not part of circumcising religions) and they said yes. So I was.

The benefits are endless. And there is no downside.
I don't get why people here are being so vocal agaisnt something literally hurts no one.

    • and all those victims, I am talking about newborn, small infants and children have given their consent to be mutilated, right?

    • Considering I'm one of them I feel confident telling you: I was not violated or mutilated in ways that caused me any harm. It's a harmless procedure that changes presentation but not much else. It's really not that evil

  • I’m totally against circumcision but if you must have it done then I suggest you go and get it done abroad where it’s likely to cost a fraction of that amount. Go somewhere in Eastern Europe. Albania has the cheapest prices and has amazing beaches. I reckon with about a thousand euros you get the operation and a week’s holiday.

    • I'm impartial to the actual procedure but what I have seems to be the only solution. I would stay local because it's more trustworthy, don't want to wake up with 1 less kidney lol

    • That’s such a condescending comment! You realise it’s a very minor operation under local anaesthetic? You will be awake the whole time.

    • Yes but it's also a daunting experience and i don't want the extra stress

  • I've supposed to have gotten mine done years ago at 25-26, in 2019-2020, then Covid lasted for like 2-3 years. Ah well. I hit 30 and didn't bang in my 20s, yet however, there's always pros and cons and whenever I get it done, it's purely for hygiene reasons. Sex? I'm moved past that with aging and lazier lol👀 🦥 sloth turtle 🐢😆

  • There is more of a question for a doctor.

    • Not really. It's more whether it's worth it or not. Doctors would say it's my decision

  • It does sound like it gets in the way. Is it difficult to clean like that also. Does it work ok during sex or masturbation? $1600 sounds expensive though...

    • I don't really have any unusual smells or anything, but when masturbating it is fine but my foreskin is like the photo. Never had sex but I'm worried about it in case it is an issue after waiting so long to find a girl

  • There are stretching exercises you can do. I've also heard about guys using foreskin restoration devices to cure this. Specifically the TLC Tugger.

  • Bro don’t do it if everything works fine you should be fine. Also it sound quite a bit of money snd the pain will be so bad not to mention it will leave a scar it’s not worth it.

  • Seeing that you tried everything else, I'm assuming that you did your stretching exercises too, I guess it would be the right answer.
I have a biased website that I can send you to (https://circlist.com/ ). There are 4 basic styles, if you do get the choice.

  • is that a condition? mine doesn't either and i just assumed it is normal

    • Look up phimosis. When erect we should be able to pull the foreskin back over the head without issue. But for me I can only get it like the photo in this post. Yes it's a condition and for me it needs treated

  • Sorry, circumcised guy, not sure I get it. Does it hurt. Does it hold you back/in?

    • I'm not sure if lubricant would help but when I try to pull it back when erect it's painful if I try to pull it all the way. I can only pull it fully over flaccid

  • In similar cases, circumcision is helpful, however better consult a doctor.

  • Had the same issue when I was younger. I had it done when I was 21… it was super sensitive for a bit so sex is almost to much… but eventually you become completely numb and can last forever.

    • I notice right now even the slightest touch of my head feels uncomfortable, I think it's so sensitive by the lack of touch? I'm just worried that if I ever get with a girl it'll be a problem

  • I’m circumcised and love it.
    So do the ladies

  • Hell no unless your converting to a jew yuck.
