I knew a dad whos wife passed away and he was alone for a while. He then had his daughters 17 year old friend as a lover for a while, till she left for university. I don't know how it happened.

Incest has broader usages than you would expect. For instance in psychology it's called covert incest if you seek emotional support from your young children, or ask them to hide information from their other parent.

Right, I'm a law student so I'm familiar with that. I was speaking in the realm of psychology. The law also calls wage theft a civil violation rather than a criminal violation, but nevertheless I would still refer to it as a crime.

As much as some of us find this appalling, it's legal in most states. So, if both are open to this relationship, it's a legal situation.

This has nothing to do with sex or gender. That guy who claimed it is irrelevant and they literally discuss ageism and how it's wrong.
Then my right to say that is observation and experience. Teenage girls act as if I'm too old but they didn't 10 years ago. Even if I can get a date, their defenses are sky high but they relax their defenses around guys near their age.

17 is too young for me and not legal in Canada but who knows the dynamics here. maybe she was looking for an experienced guy who was caring and he needed some passion in his life. it sounds like it worked out for them.

because family is everything since his wife is dead he should be more close to his daughter cause he only has her now and so if he treats her like gold he doesn't get with a 17yo he finds someone his own age group
I know the law considers 17 to be wrong. However I also know studies have shown girls mature faster than boys. I would not fault the relationship personally.
