Alright I feel like this isn't mentioned enough, even among us feminists

1. You believe the idea that real men don't cry and/or have shamed a man or boy for crying

2. You've told a man to "man up" when they have real issues

3. You've called a man a pansy, pussy, effeminate, etc for having interests that are traditionally seen as feminine such as makeup

4. You've called a gay man slurs that I'm not gonna repeat here

5. You've made fun of a man whose partner makes more than him

6. You've shamed a man for looking up to women

7. You've shamed a short man but wouldn't do the same to a short woman

8. You've thought two unrelated men hugging each other is gay

9. At a furniture store or a paint shot you've told a man to "Come back with his wife" like men aren't capable of picking something themselves

10. You've pushed away a man who comes to you with actual problems but wouldn't do the same to a woman

    Think a man not pushing away a woman with problems is more to do with the guy liking them. Rather than toxic masculinity unless you count all acts of men doing stuff for women they like toxic.
    But could be in some cases I suppose such as if we did the ultimate test of Old Woman Vs Old Man who do you save? then if the answer seems to be obviously the woman then yes this is just sexist.

    Hugging a guy ain't gay anyone who say's so is just dumb. But let's just say I am more willing to hugs girls, men would be in specific situations and rare. That's just called comfortability which is unique to us all though an average of guys would feel the same way.

  • So basically you're talking about/acknowledging 'misandry'... if it's about what men do to other men. For a second I thought the post was about internalized misandry from both men and women, until I got to that last line about toxic masculinity.

  • I used to do one of these, in my old friend group I wanted to prove I was tough and said I may not be a strong puncher but I can take anything you give me. So he punched me in the upper arm, and when I didn't make any tears or anything I said that felt like a pussy punch and he did it again in the same spot and then I said that felt like a girl punching me. He then put everything into the last punch and I said I won't see I would you I can take it, and that's when he walked off... It took two months for the black and blue bruise to go down, but I was so proud of myself for not giving up lol

  • I can honestly say none of these describe me. The only time I tell a man to “be a man”, is when it comes to providing for his family (which I think a woman is a pos if she lets her family struggle instead of helping provide, so I’m not putting it all on the men), or if they’re a shitty partner, I will tell them, be a man and x, y, z, usually I use that when a man lies and won’t just tell me the truth. I do try to refrain from saying that, though, since things like providing and not lying doesn’t make someone a man as again, I expect that from any decent woman as well

    Men are only accepted as men by other men; women have absolutely no say over our rights of passage, and standards that we are expected to live up to. Besides, the proof is in the pudding: women are lining up to sleep with/ marry men who are acknowledged as men ("a man's man") by other men, while the effeminate's men you speak of are friendzoned.

  • to be fair, we all have a little bit of sexist thoughts in our minds mostly derived from the biological differences i. e. men being bigger/stronger/taller/faster and women being able to get pregnant plus the psychological effects this has over a lifetime and entire generations.

    that being said, I don't understand the negative responses and negative reactions from users. nothing you said was wrong and they're attacking your credentials (mostly your age) but that shouldn't matter when you're telling the truth. e. g. you don't need to be a mathematician to know 2+2=4.

    the negativity from other users is only proving these statements right. if the type of person you're describing is not them, they have nothing to worry or be ashamed about but given the backlash, it's clear you've struck a nerve in some. however it could just be trolling.

  • At 17 you still got a ways of go on all of this. But men there is only one thing men crave more than sex from women: respect. So I am glad you see that issue at least.

    But many feminists conveniently use the phrase “toxic masculinity” while somehow magically believing toxic femininity is nonexistent.

    Women act surface nice but they often gossip up and backstab they living f*ck out of each other. Men don’t bond over gossip. Most of us dislike that crap anyway.

  • I think you should do the opposite start listening all crap you women do to each other and see that your culture are the worst. And maybe clean your own gender culture before complaining about ours. Have you considered why some of the rules exists? Instead of just complain about them. Most is to harden men because the world is relentless against us and hasn't soften one bit so the rules can't be relaxed without getting more broken men.

  • Men and women are different. Just because men are treated differently than women, and vice versa, does not mean it is automatically misandry or misogyny.

  • Not me. But plenty of women do and so do plenty of men. But women who use the words “toxic masculinity” many times are misandrists as well. Not all.

    If you agree there is also a toxic femininity. Which there is DEFINITELY a version of that as well as women who display behaviors of toxic masculinity
