Me and my wife both wear them. She started in middle school because she wears tight pants and didn't want panty lines. I didn't start wearing them till i was about 17 cause i was too embarrassed to ask my parents about them.
I would say no to a thong bikini. She is too young to understand why that is inappropriate. After she hits puberty she will feel differently i am sure. I think it is cool she is taking an intereast in that though. There needs to be more poeple in thongs at the beach in my opinion.
As far as underwear goes i say why not. An age doesn't have anything to do with fashion or comfort. If she wears leggings like a lot of younger girls do now days then a thong would be a great choice to prevent panty lines.
But you have to talk to her and ask her if she is doing it just to flash boys. Cause that wouod not be ok. She is young enough not to know what the diference is between being classy and slutty. So you are gunna have to explain it to her. And explain why she should wear full back panties with skirts and dresses.
If you know her well and believe she has good intentions go for it. But that is up to you.
I dont think 10 is too young to understand. Teach them young then they grow up better. That is my motto.
I don't think any girl that young should be wearing thongs at 10 years old. I started at 13 but I didn't wear thong swimwear until a few years ago. I do wear them to the beach and pool if i can.
No 10 year old should be wearing thong bikinis. The only time I would ever wear one is if I were in a location where it was culturally acceptable to do so. When she's 18 she can make that choice for herself but until then my answer in your situation would be no.
As for underwear, that one's a little more difficult. Most of the girls I know (myself included) started wearing thongs sometime in middle school, we were all gymnasts though so part of the reason was to avoid having undies that stuck out of our bodysuits.
Don't buy her a thong at age 10, not a good idea because that will ensue her "dating" a guy. She probably only wants one because her friends have them for some reason. She probably hasn't realized thongs are worn to attract the opposite gender sexually. Just compromise and buy her a bikini? don't let her start so young... Some of the stuff I see girls my age wear is just disturbing..
thongs as bikinis are not good at 10, however non-lacy ones as under wear i wore at about 12 because they don't make those annoying lines in leggings or bunch up under clothing, no one will see them ( at least not guys, she is only 10) its the parents call over all but that is my opinion.

@soe11 Yes, it feels good to wear them. My g-string micro bikinis are made to show my naked body, and they have so little material they do not hide any of my body. And I love to wear them in sometimes very crowded places, so I do get a lot of enjoyment from wearing them.
No, most people are not going around wearing thong bikinis.
I think one of the only places that is appropriate is in an adult photo shoot or Playboy magazine.

Okay, you need rot check out who her friends are. I am disgusted by the fact that 10 year olds are wearing that stuff. I wouldn't allow her to wear any of that if I were you. I don't find them appropriate for a 10 year old at all.
Most public pools prohibit thong bath suits.
