It's something that older couples tend to explore in order to spice up their sex life, from what I've observed. Most younger people/couples cannot relate to this idea because they haven't been married for decades to the same person.

When you think about it, love fades and sometimes divorce is unfeasible due to marriage laws. Couples explore different ways to find happiness, and this happens to be one of them.

I believe that "swinging" is the socially accepted word, and I think that it's probably not for the faint of heart. I would imagine few couples could pull it off successfully, but I'm not among those that are going to say "disgusting, divorce, gross, etc".

I just don't think it would work for the majority of married couples.

well when you view it like that, it has no choice but to sound sucky. think of it like you taking a break from the hubby or having fun. or maybe thats a guy thing only. my girl doesn't care what i do... probably the reason why i don't do anything. but when i used to date girls with your kind of inflexibility, whoo... the cheating was REAL. here's a tip that will serve you and probably save a relationship of yours... when you are uptight, people (your partner) tend to go behind backs... but if you show a bit of flexibility, whether you mean it or not... it makes people more comfortable... and they don't have to run off.

It's certainly not for most people, but for some couples, it can work. I've known a handful of swingers and they seem happy with the lifestyle. I've done MFMs (and FFMs) with my wife, but not full swapping with another couple. So I can kind of, sort of see the attraction of it, but full swapping isn't really for me. I like a partner to be the center of attention.
