Kind of, but the term applies to men as well. You might have heard the closely-related term "poor white trash." It really just refers to people who are poor - very often due to their own poor choices or unwillingness to work - who thus tend to live in trailers rather than apartments or houses (because trailers tend to be the cheapest type of "permanent" residence). Stereotypically, they are addicted to substances (they tend to smoke, drink, and often use drugs), and commit a lot of theft and vandalism. Promiscuity tends to be very high as teaching children morals and values isn't much of a priority - the "parents" are often busy drinking, doing drugs, or committing crimes themselves - so teens tend to be pretty feral and do whatever they want.
While blacks and Latino poor tend to live in big cities, white poor people are more likely to live in trailers, either in trailer parks in the suburbs or on fairly isolated rural properties. Thus, "trailer trash" is kind of the "white version" of "ghetto" or "barrio."
In my area (East Bay), most trailer parks require residents to be 55 or older, so they tend to be relatively safe and quiet, but I've been to a couple of trailer parks without this limitation, and, yeah, they were white ghettos, with all of the stereotypical behavior on display, including underage girls barely-dressed and obviously trolling for attention, and very likely willing to make - ahem - "transactions."
I should also add that you can get a bit of a glimpse into trailer park culture by watching reruns My Name Is Earl. Yeah, it's been given the Hollywood treatment, so the very worst stuff has been excised, but it still gives a surprisingly accurate feel of the situation.

Wow, great answer. Almost as good as Ms @wingattebaby16 :)
I believe @MrOracle's response pretty well sums it up. In the Midwest (particularly Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri) those living in trailer parks can be "white trash" as described in his explanation, or they may be transient blue collar construction workers who don't bother anyone and make an honest living without the "trailer trash" baggage. The trailers themselves aren't the issue. Some people live in single and double wide trailers on properties with thousands of acres. Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood lived in a trailer on their ranch property outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma, for a while. In my area, we call trailers Tornado Magnets. The chances of survival in a trailer during a tornado are pretty slim, so when people hear the warning sirens they're out of there in a hurry.
it meant something more to me, used to use the word "skanky", dirty, cheap, low worth, etc..
It's really sad because it'sjust people who are often working class who can barely make it. one of my relatives raised in a trailer, she was a good person but very simple.
I don't like labeling people for that reason. There's who that person is as a human being and whom they were conditioned to be. I try to see to their better self, including women who lower themselves because their emotional needs were neglected or physically abused.
I personally have never associate the term Trailer trash with sexuality. Perhaps now a days some people may use the term for meaning a slutty male or female but that Is not what the term originally meant. Trailer trash is a north American term originating post world war 2 during the 50s. The 50s began an era where well off Mid class white Americans wanting to show off their status lived in suburbs. Suburbs life seemed to indicate having a good steady paying job and being well off. If someone could not afford the surberns or couldn't find steady work they would move into trailer parks. The living was cheaper and because the house was Mobile it allowed people to move with the mobile home to follow work. Trailer parks soon became associated with nomads, poverty, and lower class. It wasn't soon after the term Trailer Trash was coined. This demeaning term can be seen as a racial (against Caucasians), ethical or economical insult. It was used to belittle white people and insult their social status. The insults meaning then extended to imply lazy, uneducated ill mannered as well as poor and low class. It seems for some people this derogatory term has once more taken a new insulting path to include sexual deviant... However when I hear the term Trailer trash I don't associate it with sleeziness but instead I think of the original term indicating low class and a lack of social mannerisms.
i grew up in Decatur, GA.
Trailer trash are women that usually are red necks, HS drop outs, prego by 12-14yo, have regular incest with male family members, and any other man that shows them attn. They drink a lot and often do drugs to numb the pain of Life.
They live in trailer parks (and some mobile home parks), but they find the only way they can get any money or anything else in life, is by being a Whore and Slut, but they usually are trashy in their dress, and dont do much to look nice for a guy.
Poor White Trash is stereotypical of low class white women living in a trailer park.
Wow, that read like it was right out of a dictionary or encyclopedia or something! You really know your stuff on that one Ms C... lol, thank you!
i forgot... a lot of these women are also ugly, fat, stupid, and the only way they attract a man is with sex. Men only care if a woman drains their sperm dry. Otherwise, they want a pretty woman as arm candy and a wife. That is a common thing i see. In High School, the trailer trash girls were an easy score. Any guy that wanted sex, would date them. too many were prego by 16yo...
most my gfs lived in a trailer park or mobile home park (classier trailer since it does not have wheels). My teenage life was rotten and i admit i was Poor Human Trash too.

What's Your Opinion? Sign Up Now!I’ve always thought it was a derogatory term aimed at men and women who are raised and live very rural low income areas
Trailer parks used to be for low income people. "Mobile Homes" have come a long way since then but living in a trailer park still seems to be looked down on although retired people love the parks and have a closer bond with each other than your run of the mill suburbs housing track people do who often don't even know the people living two doors down.
This video explains the origins and the trope perfectly so enjoy.

The term "trailer trash" dates back at least to the early 1950's. People who had previously been designated as "white trash" began living in mobile homes, then commonly referred to as "trailers." Trailer parks began to proliferate to give people a cheap place to park their trailer, and the white trash inhabiting the trailer parks were then referred to as "trailer trash," a shortened form of "trailer park white trash." The expression is non restricted to the female gender and, originally, did not refer specifically to sexual behaviors of trailer park inhabitants.
