This is something that bothers me and I feel like I have to say something about it (or nobody else will), but I’m not nearly as articulate as Laci Green so I will let her tell you why slut shaming needs to stop.
I've highlighted the main points of the video for those of you who've decided to skip the video and go straight to the comments section.
One of the things Laci is saying is that sleeping around has nothing to do with how much you respect yourself.
"Not doing what you’re supposed to, to be a good respectable woman does not mean you lack self-respect."
Things that have to do with how much you respect yourself:
- Standing up for yourself
- Making your own decisions
- Not putting up with people’s bullshit
Things that have nothing to do with how much you respect yourself:
- What kind of sex you have
- What kind of clothes you wear
- What kind of makeup you put on
“For women promiscuity is considered a “stupid decision.” And when you make bad decisions you pay the consequences. Like losing everyone’s respect, being shamed, being called a slut, being bullied…. But for dudes promiscuity is not a “bad decision,” promiscuity is a very good decision.”

I don't agree with the video, I most certainly agree that slut shaming needs to stop. I mean how else would I relieve tension after a bad breakup or when I need to vent. But just realize that as a slut that's all you are; a vagina guys use to relieve stress. So as long as you're OK with that, then nobody should have a problem with your life choices. Oh and don't be upset if after having 50 dicks in you over the course of a year, you can't seem to find anyone to date you.
Let's see here, Being slutty, "for both men and women" is a good way to further the spread of STD's, Contribute to many unplanned pregnancies, Unstable relationships. To me, Any person who demonstrates those traits are actually gambling with their lives. And because of their lack of morals being demonstrated through their actions will cause me to ultimately reject them from being within my realm of possibilities. Does that mean I hate them? No. Does it mean that they need to work on their own image if they don't like how people perceive them? Yes. People should be judged according to their own actions. Would it be wrong to judge the actions of a thief? I know I would. My judgment of said thieves would cause me not to trust them, and rightfully so. Just like how I would not trust a slut to NOT bring home an STD after one of her conquests. And for the record, I know men engage in this risky behavior as well.
I don't see slut shaming like the amount of attention that fat shaming gets here. Discussing about it is just talking. Being a slut is about making the wrong choices that gets you in the wrong side of life and everyone knows you're sleeping around at work, at university or in your town.
I don't fat shame but one thing I hate is when I see girls on dating sites that hide that they are fat in their pictures but then when you see them in person, they're much fatter. Now I've seeked out fat/chubby girls on dating sites, but the difference was I knew right off the bat.
Getting back on topic, I agree being slutty is making bad choices, male or female. What I've come to learn is females are turned off by promiscuity in men as well. The reason why you see players end up with many women is the traits that get them the women, not the amount of women they've slept with.

Well, I am sorry to tell you, But sleeping around is an indicator of a lack of self respect. So when you say, "SLUT SHAMING NEEDS TO STOP" is like saying you are proud of being one. Those who are on the dating scene and are looking for someone they can actually build a relationship with, Keep in mind, They don't want one night stand, friends with benefits, or bar fly type material. They don't want someone who every Tom, Dick, and Harry have already been with. They are going to want someone who can demonstrate self control. They are going to want either a man or a woman who is not afraid to make potential partners earn the right to be with them in an intimate matter. Me personally, I have a hard time respecting women who are promiscuous.
I think the whole concept behind sluts is stupid. We are human beings, we can do what we please and shouldn't be judged for it. Animals have sex with various partners and they don't get judged for it. When you throw away society (at least the judgement part of things), we are animals as well. And for all the people making claims about STDs and stuff, people are still people even if they have an STD. For all you know, your best friend could have had an STD and you'd never know. If you treat them anything less than you would now, then you are pretty shallow. All people should be treated the same regardless of any diseases they have, the gender they are, the race they are, their profession. Never take anyone for granted either.

Um.. ah... well... Self defeating much? What fun is it to make fun of someone's ignorance when they do it in their first paragraph? If the first thing you say is how you need to say but someone else already said it; you're just being ironically redundant. Paradoxes should at least be interesting, not mind numbly stupid.

I have been preaching this over and over.
Don't worry girls: some guys may still be stuck in the 1950s and reject you on the basis of being a slut, but there are guys like me out there who would have no issue with it and find it hot to for you to flaunt and give full expression to your sexual appetite.

A lot of women dont want to to date or marry a player which is a male slut. They dont want to date or marry a guy who goes to prostitutes. They dont want bisexuals as much according to the polls I have seem on here. But yet you insist that I have to be attracted to someone that exhibits behaviors that I dont want in a partner. No. Let her be a slut and not hide it so I can avoid her. I am not stopping her but I and many, many others dont want her either.
Nobody is insisting that you HAVE to be attracted to someone who's like that. The point is that girls who enjoy having sex shouldn't be shamed for it. That's it. That's literally all there is to it. You don't have to be attracted to them, you don't have to date them, you don't have to associate yourself with them. All the anonymous take owner is asking for here is some general respect, and for that respect to NOT be based on a person's sex life.

@lumos if I say to friends or others that I wouldn't date a girl who had say 7 partners, and that I wouldn't be attracted to them or even associate with them, is that shaming? It is stating an opinion and a preference nased on behavior but I think some would say it is shaming. If not, what is shaming?

The word 'slut' shouldn't be offensive. It's almost a compliment in a certain light. A 'slut' isn't concerned with what people think of her, and a 'slut' knows what she wants in a sense.
there is nothing wrong with having sex for fun. not even if it´s like another person every day... as long as everybody is on the same page.
if you are one of those girls who will make a guy think she likes him, there needs to be "slut" shaming. it´s exactly as bad as being a "player" guy in my opinion.

If you're a guy and you sleep around with various girls, you're a player, a douche, a low life. What's even worse is that these guys will exploit the neediness and desires of many girls, usually virgins, and leave them high and dry, and then call them a slut, and what's even worse is that her friends will join in. That kind of shaming and exploitation needs to stop absolutely..
But if you're a girl who sleeps with a different guy every week and complains about guys being all the same and can't find a "nice guy" that's on you: you're a slut and the literal definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results
I've also met many girls like this. They'll even do this to a guy that's not slut shaming.

Bottom line is if we are gonna end slut shaming then we should end virgin shaming as well. I'm not a virgin but I did experience girls like this when I started having luck with women.
i use to despise them since i never cehat or have sex outside of relationships.
after being single and realizing the need for sex and the lack of relationship prospects, i can see their place although i hvent gotten into casual sex...

If it's ok for guys to have sex with multiple women but not ok for women to have sex with multiple guys how will this work out? If all women stop having sex with these guys who like to have sex with a lot of women they will complain and call women all sorts of degrading names. It's like women can never win in this situation. That's why I say fuck it. Let's do what the fuck we wanna do. Fuck anyone who's against it.
Its actually not ok for men to be promicious but many young men are in enviroments that encourage it...

Well here's the thing, if were gonna stop slut shaming then shouldn't we stop virgin shaming too? Nit that I'm a virgin but I've met many girls who don't wanna be judged for their experience and number of partners but will not hesitate to judge a guy if he's a virgin or inexperienced. Male microchimerism in women. In a small percent of women who have never been pregnant with a male child, they literally have DNA from past lovers in their bodies, even in brain tissue. You can google it if you don't believe me. Naturally, the women who have been pregnant with males had way higher rates of it. Why does it matter so much if a woman has been slutty, if you're considering a serious relationship/marriage? Because women literally carry their past lovers with them.
