I lost my virginia when i was 16

Age 16. My girlfriend at the time was 15. It was the summer of my junior year in high school - I would be a senior that September - on the Fourth of July.

We were kind of lucky. Usually you hear that the first time is not that great, but we had privacy and time and it was almost straight out of a movie. So it was - for everything we had heard - an amazing experience.

My gfd's family used to throw an Independence Day party. They lived on a lake and our town would shoot the fireworks display over the lake. So there would be a party all day - swimming, water skiing, baseball and volley ball, a Bar-b-q. They even set up a sort of mini-Las Vegas with roulette wheels and a poker table in their living room. It was a big deal in our home town.

Then, in the evening, some would stay onshore. However, a lot of us would take boats out to the middle of the lake and have dancing under the stars - we had cassette tapes and a "boom box" in those days - until the fireworks went off.

So my girlfriend and I took her family boat, it was a pontoon boats - just the two of us, not sure how she managed that - to the middle of the lake. After the fireworks, we just told everyone that we were going to stay out and stargaze.

Really, we had no intention of having sex and in fact we had no condoms or anything. We were really just going to look at the stars and talk but one thing led to another and we ended up having sex.

Frankly, we were in high school and you can argue that we were young. However, we had dated for a while and we did care about each other and it was special. Plus, having the time and privacy - heck, we were in the middle of a lake - made for some great sex.

After that, for about a week, I was sure of three things. 1) I was a man!! 2) I was totally in love with my girlfriend. 3) There was no doubt that she was going to be the girl I was going to marry, buy a house in the burbs, have babies with and live happily ever after.

Then, after a week, came the next thought. "What if I got her pregnant?" We hadn't used any protection and immediately I started to worry. I started thinking about telling our parents. I tried to imagine what how it might impact my senior year and my chances of going to college. It created some stress in our relationship - she really got tired of me asking if she had her period yet.

Well, we got lucky. She was not pregnant and, in fact, we continued to date - and have sex (with condoms) - we went to my prom and her's, we did all that high school and college stuff, until my sophomore year, her freshmen year, in college.

It ended amicably - mostly it ended because going to two different colleges put some distance between us - and we stayed in touch for a while. Last I heard - this was years ago - she was married to a guy in the Air Force and had two children. For my part, I have been living with my girlfriend for over ten years - we don't want to be married - and have three children and I am the luckiest guy alive.

It was healthy and natural for two young people to experience. We had sex because we wanted to and we shared something special and - although I would never trade that for what I have now - it is still a fond and special memory.
