How do you feel about circumcision?

I am having a baby boy in less than a month and have been seeing a lot of pros and cons to circumcision. Some people say it is mutilation, some people say it is needed so they do not get yeast infections or other problems that could arise from bad hygiene caused by being uncircumcised. Men, if you are circumcised, are you happy about it, or did you wish you had been able to make the decision yourself as an adult? If you aren't circumcised, do you wish you had been? Women, if you had boys, did you and why? If you haven't had any boys yet, do you plan on it? Why and why not?

What Girls & Guys Said

  • My fiancé has complete say in the matter and he said that if we ever had a boy he would circumsize the kid, for health reasons. I personally don't know enough to have an opinion either way, especially since I don't have a penis I don't think I should have a vote.

    • Most of the health reasons are based on bias to either justify the circumcision of the doctors themselves who wrote about the benefits, or to get people to pay 200$ to get it done, believing that it is a necessity.

    • It's my fiancé's choice. I don't have a penis so I don't get a say. Plus he says anyone who is upset over losing their foreskin has some serious mental health issues and needs to see a counselor

    • You don't have a choice because you don't have a penis? It would be YOUR son! Jesus Christ. Don't have kids!

  • Circumcision is only harmful. It gets rid of most of the most sensitive nerves there and whatever is left is less sensitive since its constantly exposed.

Circumcision does not help with hygiene or anything. If you don't wash a circumcised or uncircumcised penis it will be dirty.

There's no reason to remove the most senstive tissue from a person's body to reduce the chance of infection. There are many studies that show cirumcision to not reduce infections. You don't remove a body part to reduce your chance of an infection. Nobody chops their fingers off so you don't accidentaly jam your finger.

Basically the equivalent to circumcision would be if you chopped your clit off. I can guarantee your sexual pleasure would be a lot worse without it and you wouldn't want it gone.

  • it's completely pointless, barbaric ritual left over from ancient times. skin with nerve endings is being cut off and probably reducing sensation. there is no pro to it.

I'm cut and while i don't dwell on it often, i kind of wonder what i'm missing out on with respect to increased sensation and pleasure.

  • I am circumcised and couldn't be happier. I'm not married and don't have kids but if I did have a boy he would absolutely positively be circumcised. Think about the thousands of soldiers that get stationed in a desert for 6 months at a time... I'm not sure how they do it but I would guess that a daily shower is out of the question.
I think the medical field has pretty much perfected the procedure and mutilation is probably less rare than phimosis is with uncircumcised guys.
Up to you and your husband but I wouldn't think twice about it

    • Also don't let the uncircumcised guys tell you that circumcised boys lose all sensation if the foreskin is removed. I am multi-orgasmic and I can cum 4 to 6 times each session.. it is individual based not whether you have been circumcised or not.

    • Right, because everyone becomes a soldier and gets stationed in a desert. *eyeroll*

    • @ Anon, nobody said you lose all sensation from getting cut. We are claiming males lose a certain percentage due to over-exposed nerve-endings

  • Remove the foreskin, its the right thing to do.

    • Define "right".

    • No it's not.

  • The old testament bible says its to be done 8 days after birth to every male. My husband is Jewish so there were no doubts that it was happening and my son is great :) Also most baby boys in the US have it done. I had a friend from Europe that said he wished his was done because bacteria grows under the foreskin so the little boy will have to learn to clean in there very well... for me its a no brainer to have it removed :)

    • Bacteria grows under it only if you're idiotic enough not to wash it regularly, lol. Maybe he should learn how to shower.

  • Im circumcised and im perfectly fine with it

  • leave it up to him when he's an adult. there's no medical proof it's needed, but a lot documented risks and potentially life long issues if anything goes wrong.

  • I think it makes no difference to me.
