  • I think once you become a sexual being, it is safe to start exploring with people at the same level as you. I think being supportive and teaching safety is healthier than teaching guilt and shame. The fact is, children are sexual beings, even though we may be uncomfortable with the idea. It is healthier to come from a place of love and teach them respect and safety. They will be curious regardless of what we "want the appropriate age to be," it is just nature, and condemning and scorning kids will only create psychological issues with sex and sexuality (that is obviously rampant these days)

I became sexual at the age of 11, and I lost my virginity at 14, I had supportive parents, I was safe, and I was taught how to be respectful. The irony is that most people use Religion as a reason to stay "pure" (what an ugly concept) yet they forget that when the bible was writting, girls were married off at 9-10-11 years old... No sex before marriage just made sense, but girls that young were having sex, and worse, with old nasty men. Gross. Now our concepts changed, but that fact that people begin being sexual at a young age should be acknowledged and we should respond appropriately rather than denial, scorn, shame, and guilt

  • When your mind is mature enough to understand the consequences and responsibilities that will come with it, and when you have found that one person in your life who you would love to spend the rest of your days with. Doesn't matter how old you are. It only matters if it's the right time.

  • When you're ready. When you're no loner scared, and you know you really want it, and only with someone you trust, who isn't pressuring you or guilting you into it. Also, you should obey your state's age of consent laws to avoid getting anyone into trouble. Even if you're old enough, if you're under 21 living at home, you should talk to parents or legal guardians about it, BEFORE anything happens.

    • True.

  • I'm not worried when people say 15 or older. Personally, I think people develop healthier relationship with sex when they wait until they're older - less confusion between sex and love, better body image, better at learning hard lines and personal wants, etc - but 15 tends to turn out alright, at long as it was with a peer instead of a much older adult.

  • I don't think there's any one age. It depends on when a person feels ready, is knowledgeable and mature enough to engage in safe sex, and is mature enough to deal with the potential consequences (i. e. pregnancy, STDs, the various emotions that may come with having sex, etc.).

    • I agree. :)

  • There is no appropriate. People should do that when they feel ready, but also take the legal age into consideration.

    • Mhm. True.

  • Te age you can legally consent and understand te possible reprocutions of sex

  • I say save it for marriage. As long as you're married (legally), have at it.

    • But... I don't want to get married.

    • @Metlahead that's just my opinion. I'm not commanding everyone to get married before they can have sex and i didn't say you absolutely cannot have sex without being married. Do whatever you want. I don't care.

    • :) Yeah

  • Ideally, when you're 15 or 16 and only with someone who is around your age. But really, when you're old enough to understand all the possible outcomes of sex and how to handle them.

    • True

  • I honestly think sexuality was getting pushed at too young an age when I was a teenager in the 1980's, and is it even worse now?

    • Yes, it is.

    • Or unchanged? They were pushing it on early teens in my day too...

    • Wow...

  • I don't think there's a "appropriate" age, although I do consider it should be after 15/16 yo at least.

    • Yea. Any age below is too young tbh

    • I agree (:

  • I think 18+

  • I think 18+ is alright. Younger than that is isjust too immature.

  • 18 and over, theirs no legal shit and hopefully their mature enough at that age to know what their dealing with.

    • Yep.

  • I was 25.

  • I guess when you feel ready for is when you should lose it. A girl I know wanted to take her when she was 12 and I didn't sadly because I didn't have a drivers license at the time. If I did have my license I would have done her at that time of course later finding out that I wouldn't be the type of guy she likes to have inside her.

  • This poll shows that 2 males are liars haha

    • Lol I know

  • 16 or older. Younger than that you're probably not mature enough.

    • Yep.

    • In addition to your not old enough I feel like girls don't understand guys until they're 16 so guys at 14 in grade 9 can manipulate another grade 9 into something.

    • I'm in grade 10. I was curious
