You do realize this would only cause more dead beats right? I hear people comparing it to an abortion for men, but in reality it's nothing an abortion. An abortion takes place before the child is born, therefore it requires no food, money, or time to make sure it survives. A financial abortion is nothing of the sort. In this case the child is born and needs support. It isn't about the man's or the woman's rights anymore. It's about making sure the child has the necessary things it needs to have a prosperous life. Financial abortions would only bring more havoc to the world.

So because women are not throwing themselves at your feet begging for sex you are not as responsible for the partners you choose as a women? You are the type of person that blames everone else for anything and everything that "happens" to you? You get real. Lack of options does not excuse you from making a poor choice. Your option is to not have sex. If you choose to have sex with someone questionable then wrap it up, maybe double it. Good luck.
I don't see why you have to make it personal about me. Both genders should be able to 'opt out' of a pregnancy. Fair is fair.
Women cannot "opt" out. We cannot go sign a piece of paper and the "problem" goes away. Any and ALL of our choices come with HEAVY consequenes. If "fair is fair" perhaps men should have to feel some consequence while opting out...like having to be there while the woman gets the abortion so he can see the pain it caused, or by having to pay for 1/2 the medical bills and have to watch her go through prgnancy and labor and then have to give the baby away? there is no EASY out for either sexes.

The so-called "financial abortions" would only put more single mothers and children in a state of poverty. There are already some 38-40Mio poor in the USA: who would like to have more poor in the country? Who would like to have more poor kids in the country?
Who would like to have more fatherless children in the country?
My father wasn't around growing up and I did just fine! And I met my father as an adult and decided my mom made the right choice keeping him out of our lives!
Your mom has that right but alimony isn't paid for the mother, it's paid for the child.

well then we need to make abortion illegal without a mans consent because we do need reproductive rights too or are we just equal when its convenient for women, if the man gives her plenty of warning she could just have an abortion. either way you got to make it equal if a women can have an abortion so should a man and if you don't want to grant that to a man then the women would need that mans permission its your call, I personally am more comfortable with having a abortion option for both parents because its fair if she can't take care of the baby without the man then she should have and abortion the same argument is used for abortion anyways

I agree that men should be consulted when it comes to abortions BUT it should not be illegal for a woman to get an abortion without his permission. The reason being, what if the woman was raped? Is she then to seek out the man who raped her and bring him into the doctor's office to give his consent? What about if it was a one night stand and neither person exchanged phone numbers or any way to get into contact with each other?
if women can legally murder their unborn children then men should be able to opt out of father hood in the VERY! begining stages of conception much like abortion.
A good man will take care of his Family... maybe some women should close their legs when they see a Bad man coming :)

Some people don't care. Most of the people that are in these situations aren't ready for the responsibility and aren't mature enough. Women hold the most responsibility because of the Physical, emotional and mental trauma that comes from having an abortion or keeping the baby. Believe it or not there are a lot of wolfs in sheep's clothing and many leave as soon as they get what they want.
in this situation you can because to qualify for the financial abortion it has to be established before having sex that he does not want children and will need to be proveable in court.

Its kind of sad that women aren't for equality. The "financial abortion" should also be done before birth. The guy should be able to sign away his writes within a certain period of time after he finds out the girl is pregnant. If you were a guy, you would understand a little better. Its not fair that women are able to opt out and men aren't. Also, men are raked over the coals in courts in this issue.
Men and women have to same choices before pregnancy (i.e not having sex in the first place, contraceptives), but after, its all the woman's game.

First off it was a mutual decision (unless raped) to have sex, and yet when a female becomes pregnant its her decision alone to keep or get rid of the baby. That's not fair in my opinion to men because some men would want the baby and the woman aborts it and in other cases they don't want it and she keeps it. There shoudl be an agreement (written and filed with the courts early on) if the male wants or doesn't want the child. Equal responsibility in having the kid and equal responsibility if they want to keep it. If the female chooses to have it even if the man doesn't want anything to do with it, than why hold him to it... you wouldn't have the child if you didn't want it just because he did would you? To many people have kids they can't support, and yes men not paying for them is not great, but you both had sex unprotected... deal or use protection its both peoples obligation. I just think men should have a lot more say.
if women have a choice to abort, men should have a choice to not have to provide financial support. what if it was out of rape and it was a one night stand etc..certain circumstances for different times

in actuality doing that would do more harm than good. if that occurs more children will be left with single mothers who probably wouldn't be able to support it, and guys could go around knocking up girls with no consequences. It also wouldn't be good for the economy and then much more women would be in poverty, which then leads to more kids becoming delinquents, etc... See it all just snowballs into one huge disaster, but I wouldn't expect you to think ahead.

the fact that teen pregnancy is actually on the rise in this country supports my hypothesis that financial abortions would do more harm than good. people are hardwired to want to procreate and conceive children, and when a woman falls pregnant her body releases hormones to make her want to carry the child.

i asked my therapist about this. as long as he's over 18 and she asks him too, he's required too. other than that, he doesn't have to. like I said, id just leave the country anyway, I don't need that sh*t. peace

It would probably be an obligation, as it was already in the Bible: Numbers 5:11-21 link clearly describes a COMPULSORY abortion.
if abortion was a commandment, it would clearly state that god forbids women to abort. that it is taking a life, and therefore shouldn't happen. but luckily its not a commandment.
but anyway, point is. its a double standard that women think men shouldn't have a choice to provide financial support or not. and they know it. yes, legally we have to provide for the child till its 18, but after that, its up to her to provide for it if he doesn't want to

Thanks Maia! So there's no way in hell this will ever happen so I don't see what all the fuss is about. But on the other hand, some of the arguments against it are pretty weak. It's especailly interesting that some seem to argue that the legal system must "equalize" biological differences between men and women, but conveniently, ONLY the ones that disadvantage women. Women live 8-10 years longer; should they pay MORE for social security? Hmmm. . .
I only believe in this in the case that a child has been concieved in a relationship, and was wanted by both side, but when the couple split the dad doesn't want to take responsibility.
The reason for this is because, even though I am a woman, I believe that in cases where it might have been on a one night stand etc, that first both women and men have a responisbility to use protection, and secondly that if the girl decides she wants it, and goes ahead and has it, even though the guy doesn't, why should he have to pay? because, and you know I am right, he cannot actually do anything about her wanting it, if she has it then that's her choice and her choice alone, he can't prevent it from going ahead. I agree that when the child is born it needs support, but a child shouldn't be used to get money off a man who, as well as her made a mistake, but didn't want it, and if it were up to him, he probably would have gotten rid.
I think sometimes because men can't get pregnant themselves, that woman think its their given right to tell men, who although don't want the baby, will still have to take responsibility because she wants it and he helped make it, so he must pay for it. It's almost like well, I'll have it cause I want it, but you'll have to pay for this mistake for the rest of your life. I don't actually think its fair...sorry I don't.. children are not toys or possetions and shouldn't be treated like it. Abortion is a funny thing, some agree some disagree, some think it depends on the situation...But at the end of it, it is potentially a life, and if the woman decides to have it regardless of the mans view, then she should be ready to take responsibility for it, and on her own if the guy never wanted it in the first place.

FACT a woman could bugger off once pregnant and never be heard of again, and bring that child up as a single woman FACT. AND WHAT ABOUT WOMEN WHO HAVE CHILDREN AND THEN GIVE THEM UP FOR ADOPTION. If men got the right to have no responsibility when the get a girl pregnant, the number of dead beats would sky rocket, no one would even know who their father was. The poverty rate for single parent families would increase. No good comes from it! It would lead to disaster. It's sad when asking for someone to take care of their responsibility is asking too much.
and also most women don't choose to raise kids by themselves with no support so that's dumb and also BOTH parents have to sign the adoption papers which legally gives the child to someone else. Honestly, do you know anything about the world?

Both parents have to sign away their rights. If one decides to keep it the other has to pay child support, since they both made the baby! You keep talking but everything you say FAILS!
Not equal rights between men and women. If a woman decides to have an abortion she's doing it before the kid is born. Hence the abortion. So there is no one to put first. However, financial abortions deprive the kid of money he/she will need for his/her future. Why can't you understand this. It's very simple.
