Woman on top sex vs man on top sex?

Our professor got into a brief discussion in class about the history of sex. Supposedly, the first paintings of sex only show couples having sex with the Woman on top. When people did the deed, the Man automatically laid on his back and the Woman straddled him. That was sex in a nutshell. This was mainly done for the fact that the Woman was supposed to please the Man. This was the position of choice until the 1700's. In the 1700's, Missionaries went to Europe and saw couples having sex with the Man on top. They were delighted about the movements and how the Male looked so dominant. They came back to North America and started showing couples this new position. Couples started using it and started considering Woman on top sex as staid, boring and outdated. They started calling Man on top sex the missionary position and word quickly spread. Sex did a 180 degree spin. Just like that, people forgot about Woman on top sex. Even today, for several reasons, Man on top sex or the Missionary position is by far the most used sex position in the world. Anyone heard anything different? Why do you think Man on top sex surpassed Woman on top sex as the "preffered" position? Do you think things will ever change?

Because, most guys feel it’s more manly to over power the women and not take the submissive role ( bottom )? It’s a society issue that’s been drummed into us. However, I love to be submissive in the bedroom. I find that a women taking sexual control is the hottest thing ever! I love the women to be on top and very aggressive. I'm usually two-sided about how I would express my sexual roles with women. If I get sexually aroused by someone who is transgender, then I would play a traditional role with me being top while she is bottom. On the other hand, if I get sexually aroused by a cisgender woman, then I would somehow quiver while being manipulated on what she says, where she touches, how she smells, and almost everything she does. She could be a bottom and my mind would still be manipulated from her because of how I am wanting to please her. Overall, I would describe myself to be a two-sided man with one role being vanilla with someone who is transgender, while the other is more on the kinky side with someone who is cisgender.
Well as you said the most common one is missionary but we learnt that woman on top is our favourite and we love cowgirl position the most.
