Do toys you play with as a kid influence what you want to do as an adult?

My parents gave me one of these as a kid. It was already an antique but they got it cheap.

I trained in one of these before we got Abrams in my unit.

They were introduced in 1959, was produced into the 80's but remained in service the reserves well after that.

Sadly no. Lego then (and now) did not translate to building or designing now. Although I did sail and eventually joined the Navy though we'd need significant amounts of hard beverages to connect the two.

i didn’t have much toys though. I played outside a lot and used my imagination.

My favorite toy was a microphone cassette player thing though… So I guess I still like karaoke machines

I did have a dolphin toy, lile a teddy beat but a dolphin. In adulthood I really wanted to become a dolphin trainer when the job was announced in a local news paper. Thousands of applicants and only 2 jobs.


Never got that job but did become a substitute teacher. Those kids are just as playful as dolphins.

Playing cards. Now I'm a serious bridge player.

Other adult toys were unknown to me as a child. I owned a track car and loved that, and also found that I loved downhill skiing.
