Do you have a narrator inside your head?

Apparently only 25% of people do so I’m curious

  • uh i dont think so

  • I try to ignore her for the most part it is hard to do though.

  • Somewhat. I mean I'm articulating thoughts in language but there's not really "voice" to it. Just the words going through my mind.

    • Yep! That’s your internal monologue.

    • @CrazyGirl2 yeah internal monologue. not narration.

    • Precisely!

  • Yup, he can have an attitude at times.

  • STOP CALLING ME OUT LIKE THAT. Just kidding 😂 But seriously, sometimes I do lol

  • Sure do!

  • As a matter of fact, I do.

    • And it is not my own voice

    • Mines not either😂

    • Is it male or female?

  • I have a 12 member dysfunctional board meeting going on at all times. 🌹

  • Everyone has a narrator in their minds. Its called internal chatter.

    • 26% do

    • That number seems very low to me.

  • What does that mean, exactly?

    • Your “internal monologue” would be that “voice in your head.” Like if I asked you to THINK of the words to “happy birthday to you” as if you were singing it, but just sing it in your own mind! Do you actually “hear” the words as if they were sung out loud, or are you simply aware of them but no matter how hard you try, you are not able to think of words in the same concrete way when you hear them out loud. God, I really hope I’m explaining it, the best way for you to fully understand. (According to Wikipedia an internal monologue also called internal speech, self talk, or internal discourse is a persons inner voice which provides a running dialogue of thoughts while they are conscious. It is usually tied to a persons sense of “self”).

  • Well, my thoughts usually are in some sort of spoken form, basically like speaking to myself inside my head. Is that what's meant by "narrator"?

  • I talk to myself but I don't have a narrator in my head. Sometimes I need an expert opinion so that's when I talk to myself

  • Not really

  • does yours talk to you in the 3rd person? like "She just went indie the store and bought cheese"?

  • The voice is telling me no.

  • He said to say no. 😎

  • Yea i do

  • I have many narrators in my head
    Sometimes its Samuel L. Jackson.

    Mostly.. Its Morgan Freeman

  • My thoughts are voiced in my head, but not quite in a classical narrative sense. "He will now leave the bed, for he is starting to get hungry", that doesn't happen. But I do hear a voice as I write things in text, that vocalizes it and such. For example, this whole message was vocalized in my own head.

    • Yes, that’s your internal monologue. I like to describe it as if your girlfriend looked at you and said “we need to talk!” If you think “Oh my God, she knows! Fuck! How the hell did she find out?” Then you very clearly have an internal monologue, just like the rest of the mentally healthy humans on this rock! It is most definitely not like Morgan Freeman is narrating your every action “… and as he sat there straining with all the might he could muster at that moment, it occurred to him that he was once again constipated, and was indeed at the mercy of the cheese he loved so very very much!” But it would be friggin’ awesome if it was like that!

    • Haha, yeah definitely agreed

  • LOL.. Yes...
