The journey is more important than the orgasm. An orgasm only lasts a few seconds while the journey to get there can take an hour or more.

For men it is. They're not satisfied unless they cum. And they LOVE it when their partner cums.

I don't want to speak for women, but I don't think orgasm is the most important thing for them. Oh, they definitely love to orgasm, but according to some studies, 80% of women never or rarely orgasm from penetrative sex. They need clitoral stimulation.
BUT they still enjoy PIV sex immensely. It feels really, really good, and there are other very enjoyable factors, too, even if they don't orgasm. They'll get their orgasms by other means. :-)
