I can give a reason why I find huge amounts of makeup unattractive, or why I find chubby girls very attractive. One seems like a mask that covers up and makes things fake, and cuddles are amazing and chubby girls are better at it than skinny girls. Most people just don't take the time to understand why the find things attractive. I can even give a reason for why I find midriffs attractive.

I grew up with very conservative parents who actively told me not to look at women at the beach wearing bikinis because it was inappropriate. I didn't process that it was because they were showing off cleavage and their boobs, I thought it was because they were showing off their midriffs. It was the only part that usually I couldn't see when people were wearing "appropriate" clothing so I grew up thinking of it as naughty and by extension hot/sexy.

That's just correlation and as someone who's cuddled with both skinny and chubby girls, there's really no difference. People make that shit up.
