I think this is much more common with those in late teens to mid 20s. Yes older still do it to but its way less common. Haven't convinced a single friend to have even a plain face to face on webcam in years. Not even family members. Every one just just SMS over facebook.
I think I have successfully flirted over text a few times. But I am hardly an expert. Just experienced enough with the real thing to make it hot. Then we just get frustrated as there is no way to just walk through the door and see each other.

I used to. Started when i was like 14-15. I sent all sorts of stuff to a dude who was 27 bc i had my first rough breakup. Then i got caught but continued up till i was almost 18.
