I never made the same association that some people do, where they disparage car mechanics, calling them 'grease monkeys' and all that. I think it's great to have practical, real-world skills.
Where it gets less interesting is the fact that so many car repair shops rip people off, take advantage.
And cars are now filled with so many damn sensors, they're becoming more like computers than machines.
People generally go for 'white collar' jobs now, they seem to have more cache, but builders and those who can figure out how things work, and fix them, definitely have skills that many don't, and that's cool.
