Do all guys get morning wood/wake up horny? My sister's boyfriend is a Corrections Officer in a male prison (for real). He says he often does count in the morning. The inmates get woken up and pretty much have to go straight to their doors and wait for him to come past and then say they are present so he can count them. He was saying as a joke that on a typical morning a good 75% of them will be "standing to attention" as he put it. I told him that was gross and his response was: "Why is it gross? It's just nature. It's not like they can help it and it's not like they want it."

Does that actually happen with most guys? With my ex-boyfriend we often used to have morning sex but I don't remembered him being hard every time he woke but. Maybe he was? Can some guys confirm either way for me please. Was he being serious or just joking?

It's not a thing that all guys get. I'm sure men with erectile dysfunction don't experience the morning wood. Still, it's definitely common for men in general. I work in the hospital and during my night shift experiences when working with sleeping male patients, they're usually erect when they're sleeping. The lightweight sheets that the hospitals use, compared with the patients' equally lightweight gowns do a terrible job of hiding the tents they pitch. However, it's normal though. Sometimes, when they wake up at night when I'm taking their vitals, they notice their erection and are sometimes embarrassed about it, but I tell them not to worry about it because it's normal and, if anything, a sign of good health in some ways. I say that because men with a lot of health problems usually have trouble getting erect. My fiancee also gets morning wood. His dick is often hard as a brick in the morning. There are a lot of reasons why it might not happen, but essentially, it's the body running through a systems check while you're asleep, and of the the last systems is making sure the erectile function of the penis still works.
